very true. I had two characters who were granted amnesty for two reasons....Kinvoya, actually, one of my characters owes his autonomy, to one of your characters...:). The other was granted religious freedom.

TBR was very helpful if you were not threatening and did not accuse them of anything. And following the rules always helps...

Yes. Of course they were nice to non-threatening newspawns. Spong-like minds that can be molded into little TBRlets and given shiny sabres and iron shields with which to protect Nick Blackrock. :lol:

Karnon was nice to newspawns who didn't argue with their laws too.

I don't think free speech or dissent was allowed in either territory. There was a much cooler place for all that. It was called Kwor.

And the difference between TBR and Karnon? If you were "friends" of thieves, you didn't have to worry about being killed along with them. ((Instead, you would be jailed for a very long time. :wink: ))

Remember. This is an historical discussion. Commenting on the policies that were in place about 10-20 cantr years ago. I don't know, nor would I be willing to discuss current policies and attitudes which may or may not have changed over time.

w00t!

And whoever said Karnon are taking over needs a head-check.

Kwor has been for some time now, the centre of activity and growth on the island. Unlike Karnon, which post TBR-on-K-Isle, started to stagnate due to inactive leaders, Kwor has had a succesion of very active leaders, pushing for change and growth.

On the Kirinn / Kwor Beach events - what were the supposed reasons behind those landings? From my IG perspective, they never seemed more than Nick trying to throw his weight around a bit, send a warning maybe - the only resons I've heard IG have been mixed.
Whoever you vote for.

The government wins.

I can't speak for Kwor Beach as I wasn't a direct witness to plans for that (if there were any) but good valid strategic reasons were given by Nick to TBR members for what initially happened at Kirinn . But long term plans were changed after the raid, which in retrospect may have made the epsiode seem like either :

    Sightseeing tour which went horribly wrong;
    Nick throwing his weight around;
    Nuisance raid ;
    Massacre of the innocents;
    All of the above ;
    Other - please write in .......

Some more TBR arrived... mine included as she fell asleep on a bike with a key (I was moving at the time). Eric Travis was a hidden weapon that even my TBR char didn't know about. Eric pointed to a random girl, which happened to be my char that lived at the beach, and called her horse-faced. This of course pissed off her bf who attacked Travis. Lucky
dragged Travis in somewhere to lock him up. Then, all of a sudden, TBR is dragging Lucky and my char's bf into some other lady's house, saying they stole stuff. Lilly had left the beach to go to Kwor and get help. My char heard someone say, "What about her?" And just before I could move her on the road, she was also dragged inside and locked up. During all that, my TBR char was locked on the bike still cuz she gave the key to someone else to get out.

Ah what a fine day that was! It gave TBR a reason to kill those in Kwor Beach.

To add onto that, the TBR were on a mission to find the longboat. I played Eric Travis and I was a newspawn. Biff made a mention of liking horse-faced women in Kwor Beach so I pointed at the youngest woman and said she was horse faced. I figured the woman was a sleeper since she was not working on any project and she was in her 20's and even if she was awake, I figured she couldn't do anything. I didn't realize what would happen....

What is really funny though, is had Eric Travis not called that woman a horseface, there might not have been a Kwor Beach massacre, and had there not been a Kwor Beach massacre, Blackrock might not have left the island. I dunno though. I was locked up during the most of the massacre. I remember Nick coming in like 2 to 3 days later and saying I was free and then coming out and seeing a bunch of bodies on the floor and I think I remember being told to go inside a building and hit someone. Not too sure though. Also, I am not sure if the bodies were old or new.

Anyways, after the massacre, Eric Travis returned home and Erin Blackrock (I believe that was her name) was ordering me to tell her what happened, I had no idea who she was so I refused. She responded by throwing me in jail. When I finally got out a wedding was going on and I was planning on going back to Kwor Beach to tell Rau what that witch of a woman Erin had done. Unknowingly (I didn't know of Blackrock politics at the time) I decided to go to Karnon which is where I thought I came from instead of actually coming from Karnon Fields and I went away from my computer for several hours I believe.

When I came back someone was begging me to turn around so I did. Erin Blackrock a little while later ordered me to turn around and hit me. I did not want to go to jail again and I hit her back. I then turned around to run to Karnon to hopefully get some sympathy from the people and begged the other Blackrock members not to attack me. Didn't work too well. I heard I ruined the wedding though.

Anyways hallucinatingfarmer, which Blackrock character did you play? I'm sure it was one of those who wanted to kill me. I know you are proud of yourself for getting back at my character, but you shouldn't have been. You should have been more unbiased IMO.

I remember Eric very well. He was very succesfully rp'd as a complete ass. I mean, I understand his point of view, but still, none of us were upset to see him go.

The plan for TBR to leave the island was in place years before Kwor, though. Kwor just accelerated the timetable.

LoL. Was I really that mean? Well maybe at the end, but can you blame me? I was thrown in jail for what I thought was a B.S. reason.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this thread...I'm amazed all this stuff is/was going on on the island, when I was there it was like everyone just slept.

Honestly.. If you think TBR was evil for killing people that tried to leave then you better think Karnon is evil. They did the same exact thing to people who tried to walk to the Forest from their town.

Newspawns and older characters were killed only if they walked on the road to Karnon.

Karnon did the same thing with the same road into the Forest.

The eventual fate of a TBR-less Nonirowk, anyways. :wink: Everyone and thier favorite buffalo will be sleeping on that island.

Unlike us humans, tension and stress is healthy for cantrians.
Keeps people awake and fed, while lowering the risk of heart-attack?

:wink: People are eventually going to realize that Karnon is slowly taking over the island and make them the next TBR.

I really only remember one person leaving from Karnon to the Forest that was killed during the "cold war", and that one was killed for saying aloud that she was spying for TBR. Many others were pursued and warned on the road to turn around lest they be killed at the other end.

As for the freedom of speech thing, criticism was allowed, openly fomenting rebellion was not. There was another who got himself locked up and killed by ticking off some combination of Adamski, Vernes, and Cassius I think.

IN this case verbal invective was considerably less mighty than the sabre.

At any rate, anyone familiar with the inscrutable Janet Jackson knows how tolerant Karnon could be.

OMG, Janet Jackson! She was the biggest headache ever! Was she stunned, or was that an act? Whatever happened to her?

She consistently found new ways to baffle my character. My character thinks she had split personalities, neither of them very smart, and only one of them knew aware she was in Karnon and ostensibly part of the military.

She died in Karnon's prison (don't remember if she starved or had a heart attack). She finally did something wacky enough it could be construed as treason (or close enough to get her dragged away for a while just to get some peace).

I liked the snide little anti-tbr remarks he made during Stylez's getaway period, btw ;) Whoever played him (Chris?).

Ben really wanted Stylez's head on a stick...but he couldn't wake up at the right time of day to get off the boat. :cry:

Too many Blackrocks and too little time... :!:
