Cantr II is set in a fairly realistic world
WRONG!

(Now, if your character wants to pretend there`s magic, or believe things have happened by the power of some god, that`s another matter...
WRONG! that's a CRB!

information about the game world and the things in it will not be available on an `Official Cantr II Website` or anything like it; this information should be shared in-game, among the characters.

WRONG WRONG WRONG!

How is that a CRB?

Not wrong... They can pretend, but it doesn't mean others will believe them. It's more when they use things like "I'm flying and I'm a fairy or a unicorn or something" that there's a problem unless they find a way to tie those terms into Cantr.

They can even pretend to fly around like, "Look at me! I'm flying!!! *he holds out his arms and jump off a log and runs around like a maniac*" Doesn't mean he's really flying, but he believes he is. Or if the character goes, "Look at me! I'm flying!! *he leaps into the air*" then another can go, "*looks in disbelief at the idiot flapping his arms like a bird*"

And if believing things happen by the power of a god is a CRB, what are all those religions doing in Cantr? :P

All you are doing is proving how subjective the CR is..
Someone got reported for being a fairy.... and yet people are allowed to have knights .. the difference.. there is none!

If I spawn a character and call them a wizzard, role play a magic wand and say abracadbra a lot, most people will ignore but, but you can bet a thread reporting me for a CRB would appear within 24 hours!

Given the puritanical application of the CR to some things I just think the phrase I quoted will mislead a new player... its Wrong!

What are you talking about Phalynx!? There is a -huge- difference between what you have been using as examples. A character is entitled to "believe" what ever they want, but they cannot actually have special powers. That is not to hard to grasp. And about saying fairies and Knights are no different, what are you talking about!? The simple answer to that is that Knight's existed, and didn't have magic powers, whereas fairies do not exist, and do have magic powers. That's a pretty huge difference!

There is an easy way to put this. Do not say that you have magical powers. You can think that you have magic powers fine, but do not actually RP that you have them.

Ratboy, you just prove my point... Knight's exist only in Cantr as an OOC influence... Fairies could exist in name for the same reason....

Knight is a common word for an armed guard. It isn't limited to fantasy or medieval stories. Fairy is not so much a common word for anything substantial except something with wings that flies around.

If I spawn a character and call them a wizzard, role play a magic wand and say abracadbra a lot, most people will ignore but, but you can bet a thread reporting me for a CRB would appear within 24 hours!

Yes, if you say abracadabra a lot and just run around being stupid and don't try to rp something substantial. It really depends on how you incorporate it. Of course, you could create a secret society of people that go by the title wizard and carry sticks around as a sign of wealth and the secret greeting of your wizard brothers (or whatever) is abracadabra indicating the magic of friendship, at least then it would be something not quite in conjunction with the RL implication of wizard.

Given the puritanical application of the CR to some things I just think the phrase I quoted will mislead a new player... its Wrong!

And no, it's not. The CR is subjective. It always will be because no one can determine exactly where that fine line goes and never will be able to. There are only guidelines to try and avoid it.

All the language we use for most anything is an OOC influence. Sheriff is an OOC influence and used in the game. There are so many instances of those they can't be counted. Knight is similar to sheriff, while fairy is not.

*notices the fact that this topic drifted from a discussion about making people use pay attention to what they type to a discussion about the capitol rule*

Interesting...

I see no reason for the word "fairy" to be a capital rule breach.

Agreed, RPing magical powers is a CRB, but fairies as a concept I believe is the same as knights and sherrifs

It as a word wouldn't be one if a char found a way to tie the word into the game. It's when you add in the stereotype and start making your magic "really happen" that it would become one, or at least I'd think so.

So let me get this clear... hypothetically speaking I spawn a character...
"Hi I am Tinkie the wood fairy, this is a beautiful forest its so lovely"
* flies around the tops of the trees humming *

That's a big no-no CRB breach??

"Hi I am Tinkie the wood fairy, this is a beautiful forest its so lovely"
*jumps as if to fly but lands flat on her face*
"My my.. why can't I fly?"

That's OK is it?

Well what about all the characters who decide they can swim, play in non existant mud or non existant sand, and a massive variety of 'RP' which has no basis in cantreality?

Well, I would draw a like between swimming and flying. If there is an ocean or lake around, go ahead and swim, if there is sand go ahead and play in the sand, same goes for mud. however, do you know anyone who actually has the ability to fly?
