I was thinking about that too. Perhaps 2% or so of the mother's strength could be depleted for every turn that she is in labor. This would make midwives and just concerned community members in general more involved in what it takes to grow their popultaion. It'd be fun too to when char's can say things like "I knew from the day you were born that you were gonna be a hellian, your poor mother was in labor for 10 hours and look how you repay her!

I just realized that it's going to be really boring for a bit to have a baby character. Other people hold and feed the baby and babies probably won't be able to tlak. So what can they do except observe?
New players might be turned off by this because they have to wait a while before they can actually do anything. Then again, it might be really good for new players because they get a period of time where they can observe how things work in cantr and become adjusted to the game, just like children in real life.

I could also lead to a mother dying from child birth if she was already low on strength to begin with or if the labor goes on to long. It would be more realistic. Maybe later when medicine and possibly pain killers are added to the game then the amount of strength lost from these kinds of things will be less.

See, I think it will be SO FUN to play a baby. You can scream and cry and throw tantrums and then when you learn to walk and talk you can get into mischief and learn responsibility and get rewarded for behaving. There are a lot of things adults can do and children can't, but there's also a ton of things children can do and adults can't (or usually don't), like throwing a fit for no reason or hugging a stranger or chewing on the hem of someone's toga.

Anyway, another question is, how about when a character is pregnant? What happens if someone hits her? Will it effect the pregnancy? Or will it just make the mothers strength even lower because she's pregnant? Or will there be a certain strength she has to get lowered to before it does effect the pregnancy?
I don't have any objections at all to playing a baby.
And I also think that there are more things you can do by playing a child than some would think. Maybe some of you don't remember what it was like when your younger brothers/sisters were little, or when your kids were little. lol But they do quite a bit besides just lay there. Before you know it, they're crawling. Eating things they shouldn't be....(Say shouldn't babies be able to put foreign objects in their mouth, like stone? LOL) Before you know it, the babies will be a toddler. 1 year isn't all that long. By that time, you can have that baby doing almost anything your average toddler does. Thats a heck of a lot, unless its an extremely extremely good child. LOL Whats better than getting held by a town leader and throwing up on them and embarrasing your parents?

I wouldn't mind playing a baby because it would be an interesting contrast to my full grown characters and if it ever got boring, I have my other characters who are doing interesting things.
I was thinking more from the perspective of new players. Eventually I think the plan was that all characters would start as babies. New players could play only babies until some of their caracters got a little older. Playing a baby will certainly be more limited than playing an adult. If they didn't find that aspect of the game as interesting they would probably quit. 20 days is a long time to commit to a game you aren't enjoying. I'm not saying this will turn off all new players away, but probably some. It just seems like it would take too long for them to become immersed.
I still support implementing babies and I don't really have a solution to this problem.

I'm so psyched. I want to help implement babies. I sent an email to personnel, but I don't know if it got there or if a reply was sent to my bulk mail folder or something, because I haven't seen a reply. They could just be busy.
Missy, I think we're like the baby cheerleaders, we're both so excited about it
