That's right Sarah. And Phalynx, we don't blame people for making random grammar mistakes, but writing constantly WRONG because they don't give a damn about what other people think. Heh, I should just say "Excuse me? Could you repeat that? I didn't just catch what you said." the next time someone uses incomprehensible language. Exept that usually I don't give a damn of people talking like that. Unless I'm trading with them.

Evidently you don't give a damn about me...

Excuse me! Are you trying to pick a fight? Your characters stand out of the crowd and usually in a positive way. I haven't noticed any lack in your writing skills and you're a good rp'er, the only problem is that you keep deleting your characters so I'll be sure not to get attached to them if I find out who they are.
Rp'd accents are a good spice, but someone writing five lines without a single comma nor period nor a capitalized letter is not rp'ing an accent, they're merely being a jerk. Which you do no, as far as I know.

Ouch! Guilty on the count of deletion.
I just think its a bit elitist, the line that started all this made perfect sense, communicated exactly what was intended and was not difficult to read....
I spend a big chunk of my day with people who use very poor english - because it takes all types I actually think a bit of diversity in language is good - we are not all university graduates with a massive vocabulary and good grammar, and its stupid to expect all characters in cantr to be! I'm not talking about the obvious shouters like PLOAT or Loud Larry, or the MacGregor with the quickly recovering speech impediment..
Are you seriously telling me that you don't meet people in life whose accent, poor diction or lack of vocabulary doesn't make them a little difficult to follow? If your charracter IG would ignore people like that - that's absolutely fine but coming here and whinging about it, or even trying to suggest that other characters ostracise people with poor english - I think that oversteps the mark....
Hey I have an idea lets ban all players who spell colour 'color' Now that I am in favour of!
Just my thoughts!

"hello my name is sam where am i i want to get some food so i dont starve to death can someone help me please"
This is not incomprehenisble....
It might be RPing fast nervouse speech of a newspawn, or it might be someone who really can't be bothered or it is most likely someone who's literacy is not up to speed... either way who cares? You can understand it. Who do you think you are that you are owed some form of respect in language.
I have no idea what the school system is like where you live but in the UK you better get used to it because, the more people become computer literate, the more they rely on the cursed paperclip to do these things for them and the worse their written english becomes. If it bothers you so much why note code a grammar and spell check to integrate into cantr, otherwise get used to it...

Phalynx, I don't know why you're so touchy about this. You type perfectly fine, after all. If there's really nothing wrong with being lazy like you're claiming, then why do you bother making the extra effort?
go ahead stand up 4 what u beleive n start typiong tlike this all teh time and than u have an exuse 2 wine constently about the mean eliteists

To clarify my position on this, I as a player don't care how people type.
I just think that because it is in the Cantr world, it can be addressed in the Cantr world. It opens up role playing and policy making opportunities. And I think that it could be a lot of fun to capitalize on the lazy type phenomenon.

I don't care how people type either, except in a serious RP game.
If a person can't be bothered to use a capital letter or period once in awhile, then chances are they can't be bothered to even attempt to RP. A major part of roleplaying online is writing, you can't seperate the two.
I have never seen a bad typer who's also a good RPer, so as far as I'm concerned, why not scare them all off? They're not contributing anything anyway.
As far as disrupting the game goes, lazy typists are right up there with people who send public OOC messages about what they're having for lunch.

Amen sistah!
There should no control over typing skills in this game, but people who type like crap should expect to be treated like their stupid. As RP'ers we will respond to what we see, and if we see gibberish, then that's how I'll treat 'em.

Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

Is this the biggest issue we have around here to waste four pages of typing on? If so, then it's indeed a very sad reflection on the state of Cantr.
(One of my town-leader charries has a factory manager who sometimes types more or less like the passage featured in the opening post when he's in a particular hurry, and I frankly couldn't care less. He works hard, has ambitions, gets into the swing of things and doesn't act like a spoilt brat, and that's all I care about.)

...treated like they're stupid.
You see? Once we open this particular can of worms, I'm quite capable of forcefeeding said worms down the throats of just about anyone else around here. But I don't want to go there. Capice?
