I haven't *smirked* in months, I think my chars are losing they cockiness. It's hard to stick it to "the man" in little ways after you start having "the man" like tendencies. Oh well I can still *cracks a thin smile* or *flashes a half-hearted grin* to add some character without emoting a novel. I don't do that often enough.

Hmmmm... :? English has a lot of synonyms and adjectives, I should use them more often.

Well this progressive realization is over, tune in next week for "I can't believe it's not grammar!"

Be glad you get the RP you have. If you make a big deal out of something as small as *smirking* you'll crush all the RP. I'd rather see more RP, even mediocre, than none at all.

Agar, you crack me up. Wong is far from the best RP'd char in his town. He's not even in the top ten. *smirks*

Maybe you'd feel better, if you became more involved in the game.

I heard there's an opening in the PD.

*insert smirk thingy here*

How the hell do you smile festively? :?

On a side-note... how much that my chars would only be able to grin awkwardly? :P

O got a bollocking in game the other week for emoting incorrectly

I put something like *frowns at the implied insult* and got a mouthful of OOC stuff about how I was emoting TMI...

:( :(

On a related matter I drive a lot so listen to audio books more than I read (which is even less since I started playing cantr) and I was struck yesterday by the fact that one writer used 'frowned thoughtfully' at least three times a chapter which got me thinking how poor the emoting vocabulary is sometimes..

I always heard you weren't supposed to use adverbs that end in -ly at all when writing, or at least avoid them as much as you can.

You know that false smile people put on at Christmas time when people are unwrapping their presents. It's not unhappy, but it's not glee.

"Oh yes, *grits teeth firmly* this is a great present."
"Oh I'm so glad you like it *begins to mutter quietly* after how much I spent on it."

Marian: I've never heard that, but maybe it's so.

For me, smirking is usually a teasing way of smiling, or of the "I know something you don't know" kind.

Some of my characters *smirks* all the time. Among other things between a * and a *. I experience wonderful RP dialogues with other characters who uses this form of express themselves. I won't change anything.

Just like SekoETC says, *smirks* it's a teasing way of smiling. Works great.

My dicitonary says it means to 'smile in an affected or smug manner'. So maybe it's not always rude, it's probably okay to tease your friends by acting all smug about something.

Or "I know something, you think I don't know."
