(And I think it was HF who said his chars like to 'test death', but I got the impressoin he at least RPed a little while he was at it, and I've had lots of thieves myself and plan to make another one the next time I have room for a newspawn, so I'm not complaining.)
Ahh, don't mind us.

And the reason why we see how much these charcters could lose is because we as players do get some weird satisfaction out of watching a % bar rise, I do anyways.I feel like they accomplished something which makes me feel good*smiles*
Will you now tell me this is a CRB?
I never said it was a CRB , just that it was incredibly stupid and pointless to keep a char around just for that reason. If they have no personality, no friends, no enemies, no goals, no life, and the only thing you'll miss when they die is that percent bar, then I'm sorry, but I';; never understand you or the reason you even bother playing the game. I'm sure there's some kind of other little program you can download somewhere that makes a percent bar go up, and you could watch it all day if you wanted, forget 200 minutes.
Because everything is so dull and mundane when you show up ,wouldn`t it be great to see a place that didnt have the same no stealing or killing rule?
Maybe the place is mundane because everyone else is exactly like you and is too entently focused on the progress bar to bother doign anything interesting?
But as for the rules, go ahead then, try something different. What's stopping you? I'm sure you're awesome new original government will work out great...right up until the first person steals or tries to attack you and no one's allowed to do anything about it.
(But I agree, those 'no killing, no stealing, no entering someone's house or business without permission, no hunting animals to extincton' laws are so stupid, we should get rid of them in RL too!

As said before... OMG he's the new Thetaris!!!

Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

Wilmer B.
Maybe I will clarify this for you. I'm happy to do this because the new rule now makes it more difficult to do
People seem to pretend that 'suicidal newspawns' are some problem with people new to the game - I sincerely dount this - for a suicidal newspawn to be a CRB and not just bad RP, they have to fully understand the implications of skills and resources, unlikely in a new player. It's far more liley to be an expereinced player whio has recently lost a character and had a new slot open up or is bored and used their unused slot.
Some people CRB by repeat spawning to get a skill set they like.
EG to some players Fighting, manufacturing weapons and hunting are their desirable skills, you get a character thats an awkward fighter, get him killed as soon as possible to spawn another character, repeat thill you get an expert fighter and expert tailor (as an example)
Some people CRB by performing suicide because the location they spawn in is just too hard to play in for them - poor resources, too many animals, no easy food source, miles from interesting places IG. Again break a law on the ground, get killed and spawn somewhere else. Previously you could do this over and over as well...
The worst kind of this CRB (IMHO) is people who repeat suicide in order to get to a specific location. In the English zone places like Dory, the whole Burgeo island etc. have a reputation in the forum for being exciting interesting places. So keep spawning characters till you get one close enough to the location you want....
Each one one of these spawns cause disruption in a location, loss of working time, confusion all for completely OOC reasons.
Sometimes bunched in with 'suicidal newspawn' is the 'newspawn thief' like Marian and HF. I'm not 100% sure its a CRB because there is an element of subjectivity too it:
I don't think a character would for legitimaite IG reasons risk being chased and death to pick up 300g of animal bones and all the notes in town.
I think they might legitimately if a character just died and left an rion shield, a bastard sword and 1000g of iron on the floor and they took them.
It's been pointed out to me having PD check each occaision to determine CRB isn't possible.. but the 40 days rule makes all of these things much less likely, although I admit it adds OOC influence IG.
R.I.P:

Don't knock it until you tried it.the_antisocial_hermit wrote:And HF didn't say "test death" thing, it was someone else. (I think it was N-Aldwich, but I'm not sure.) HF said he likes to see how far he can get with stealing stuff as a newspawn.
And of course there's RP involved. Mostly lying-through-teeth.
Edit: Example removed - it was one of my favourites, and has worked a few times, so probably best not to publicise it
