What about the option of a company trademark on tools, weapons, sheilds, vehicle and so on...
"you see a man in his twenties use a pickaxe(Tools R´ Us) on project digging coal"
"you see a man in his twenties leave town in his Van(Crash n' Bang)"
"you see a man in his twenties kill a man in his twenties with his Bonespear(Roll over and die)"
Or maby even?
"you see a man in his twenties go to dirtbike(Offroad Co. fitted with: Powerhouse, Engine and a set of, Traction Inc, tires)
IRL this is on everything you own... Hey, just look at you computer screen. And you will find a logo of some kind...
IRL you can tell from some distance which company a car comes from by it's design.
And IRL this is a kind of a advertising of that company.
And maby this could be changed by another company when it gets repaired?

Has been suggested before (by a friend called Seeker) but that one was about trade marking clothes.
I was all for it before, when I saw him posting it, and I am all for it now.

Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

There also have been suggestions about engraving objects in general - Trade-marking is just a special version this more general feature
