You shouldn't be... cantrians that carry food eat it to stay alive... that is a survival instinct...

Carrying food isn't the instinct... the action of shovelling it down your neck when you get the hunger pang is the instinctive action... its quite well developed too because you unconsciously choose to eat the most bulky food!

This is exactly the point of the rule - You character doesn't want to die, he wants to survive... survival is the natural instinct... but no, you find playing them boring and you think get rid of him so you make him suicidal thats CRB. You charracter has no idea that he might reincarnate in an exciting interesting place...

If he was legitimately suicidal IG he would have dropped his shield and let the animals have their worst, probably days ago... but that's not something someone does lightly because they can't be bothered anymore. Feel the pain of your character... if he is suicidal and takes his own life that hurts its the most despereate thing in the world. Under this rule, now you lose 1/15th of your game play for 40 days maybe you can feel a little of his pain... mourn for that time hey?

I've yet to hear a convincing argument against this rule other than "I like to CRB"

woah hold on you issed what i was saying there
before this rule appeared i was perfectly fine and happy to trudge through and attempt to survive with this guy and if he died at 24 years and 19 days then the animals were just too brutal for him and he dies, what ticked me off is that i could try all that hard work and if he dies even a day too early i get punished for it
i did not say i like to crb now lets not make me get as beligerant as some of my chars can be because i do not like to be insulted.
learning of this 40 days rule makes me rather upset that if all i can do with this guy is collect papayaps and die anyways because he cannot outlast the naimals that i am the one who gets punished.
i or should i say, he is still collecting and eating papayas and hunting like a mofo but no matter how hard i try he may die and may die before he is 25 and i will then be down a slot and that drives me nuts. can you see what i'm saying now?

Is your life so empty an bereft that losing a slot for 40 days is even worth the time you spend arguing against this...

I used to run 15 charracters.... I don't think it is humanly possible to run 15 charracters, all in interesting towns, doing interesting things all at the same time within your 200 minutes. Some of you characters have to be the mainly silent workers, valuable to the cantr economy but not exciting to play. I think you can live without a few of those for just 40 days for the greater good of stopping people like HF who like to wipe out their characters if their skills are not quite good enough or the location is not convenient.

what greater good is there, if someone is that obsessive about killing thier chars there;s banning and such. and target punihsment like lockouts.
and you may have missed me saying this before i didn't say the rule should be totally tossed i said it was flawed and needed work so legit people needn't suffer the same punishment as those who casue trouble, i also stated before that i really don't care how many suicidal newspawns there are and i never complained, abut it because i like to take care of it in game and about a third of my chars enjoy the sport aplenty of killing dummy newspawns who just stir trouble. so really, understand that this rule cannot apeal to soemone like me even as a LEGIT player.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Hold on there. I don't think HF ever said he chose to wipe out his characters for the mere sake of them not having the right skills or being in a bad place. He said he makes them suicidal to see how far he can get. A way to amuse himself and pass the time and test the characters around him. He also said he has only four main characters and has many empty slots ruling out the necessity of needing to kill them for stupid reasons like that. I think you ought to read his posts about that again before making an example out of him for reasons he doesn't use.

Sorry, I just felt that was a slightly injust statement towards him.

It equates to the same thing, it was a public confession of CRB after all

The idea of having the PD review every death to determine wether a the lockout should occue was suggested earlier... by me I think! here

I have been told it would be too much work and impractical... and I can see that would be entirely true! So unifortunately some people will lose out.. that life!

It is not the same thing. If he kills them for skills and location, that's far different than killing them and trying for them to get away. CRB to spawn and intend to die when they don't like what they have to work with, not necessarily so if they're running and trying to survive as well as spice up some sleepy people's lives. If they survived then he let them die anyway, call that a CRB. But don't flat out lie about the reasons he chooses to have 'hit and run' spawns when he has stated exactly why he's done it.

Like I said, sorry, but I hate it when people make false assumptions when they have plenty of evidence to the contrary.

I'd like HFs honest answer to that one.... whether he was playing devil's advocate or not, I don't think he was that clear.. but I can#t be arsed to search through it all now to prove it I'm going fishing...

Oh thats a Real Life thing... you know sit and look at trees and a lake and other stuff.... some of you gus should try going outside sometime :)

viktor - just to clarify in that specific case you would only have to wait 1 day before the slot becomes open - I realise I haven't made that clear

Because of the way in which this is implemented it means that essentially every day over the 23rd birthday means one less day that the slot is locked. So a character who dies on their 24th birthday will create a locked slot for 20 days

I understand perfectly that you were just using this as an example and this fact probably does little to change your opposition to the idea.
