being that TBR is no longer present to my knowledge on noniwrok, any char on that island can be subjected to biased propoganda and IC be completely and legitimatly against them because tbr wouldn't have the influence there to accomplish otherwise. now if someone spawned in a tbr city and was treated like a loved citizen and decided "DEATH TO THE TBR! BECAUSE THEY ARE TBR!" well that might be crb
i've had a char in the tbr before and as a player love to see a boat one of my chars made still in thier service. i've also had a char in more recent times vow to kill them or die trying, entirely because of where they were brought up and the information they were fed "propaganda", they otherwise wouldn't have felt that way.

See, I know that, and I think my char calls him that because of it........but do I know it IC or OOC? I don't have a friggin clue any more. I think it's IC, because I don't know as you've said that on here before, Bran.........but my point is, it's almost impossible, after a time, for ooc not to influence a persons char, because you no longer know what is what.
*shrugs* That being said, my TBR hatred is ALL IC.

Awkward: Having your phone go off full volume during a funeral.
Even more awkward: Your ringtone being "I Will Survive"
The most awkward: Coming back after a 10+ year hiatus and swearing I'd never come back.

He had legitimate reasons to attack there but because the people he was attacking had a lot of OOC influence in Kwor his request for justice was ignored. He was attacked but didn't fight back. The next thing I know people are saying he came with other tribe members and attacked people in Kwor. I know this can just be char rp but to have it be so pervasive smacks to me of OCC influence that cannot help but make new players think that Nick is evil when they should be making their own discoveries and decisions through their characters.
He never had legitimate reasons to attack Kwor, nor indeed to threaten it. My character in Kwor demanded that Nick be able to speak is peace, and put an end to the people hitting him. When Nick woke up, he basically said "you're either with us or against us" and fled.
As much as you want to say that there is a lot of ooc hatred, you must realize that there are a lot of leaders who talk about the TBR crimes that they learned of IC.
As for proproganda... both sides have used it remorselessly.

As for getting annoyed about the TBR hematite restrictions... Karnon of course didn't like it, but that's because they styled themselves a true power without having a resource base to back up the claim.
Kwor never did have an official problem with the restrictions. I know this because I was one of the leaders there, and also one of the ones who started the limestone tax, which was and is a restriction. Kwor wouldn't have had any problems with TBR, except that TBR wrongly lumped in the Kwor government with the exaggerated Eastern Noniwrok Alliance conspiracy. Concessions and fair trade agreement might have won Nick a strong ally in Kwor, but he was too arrogant in his demands and played a poor diplomat by threatening us.
Frankly, the fact that he was mad at Firecam for foiling a TBR assassination attempt doesn't justify, at least in my Kwor character's mind, him coming into our town and demanding we give up Firecam or never have hematite again.

It's interesting to see the two stark contrasts: The, I hate TBR OOC and IC, and, It's a conspiracy/it's just a game/they made the K-Isle so much more fun.
I agree with the latter, though the prior is interesting because there is a lot of young(new) players (and young characters) who aren't certain what the CR is, or where the CR line is.

Nakranoth's "evil" character says:
"Thief! That's terrible! *shakes his head* That would hurt people's feeling if I did that."

People hate TBR -- inisde or outside the game -- because it worked. All you had to do to join was say you wanted to, and you got a weapon and shield, and before long, an upgrade. The leaders were always awake and active. The chars cared about each other. It was well-organized, and the best-defended place I've ever played in. Spies were rooted out and dealt with. The almighty Karnon couldn't touch it. Got caught with their pants down trying to attack it and ran away. Then claimed they scared TBR away when the latter left the island. Laughable.
I've said my char hated Nick, but only at the end, and only because he came to believe that Nick betrayed the ideal that was TBR. Nick would say he is TBR, that he made it everything that it is, and of course he'd be right. But he's well played in the sense that power corrupts.
And now, I find being on K-isle insufferable. You can't take a step without hearing some long -- and almost without exception, ineffective and inaccurate -- diatribe about TBR, more than a decade after they left the island. It's a place with an unhealthy obssession and inferiority complex rolled into one.
