My character in Karnon hated Karnon more than he did the TBR!

Oh and Lad I have plenty of reasons IC to hate, so I do, IC and obviously OOC

I get what you mean Surlz - but I would like to think the majority of people don't take what they read here and apply it in-game.

Only one of my three K-Isle characters actively hates TBR, the other just dislikes them as they wouldn't let her get hematite, but that's about as far as her contact went, and the third is entirely indifferent.

What really annoys me - are the newspawns who pop up and say 'where do I sign up to fight TBR' almost immediately - that really pisses me off - no one actually asks why TBR are so hated, even those way too young to have ever had any contact with them... So yeah, I guess you are right...

The blind leading the blind.. They just want someone to fight and call evil, even if it may be injust or if the others are worse.

Most of my chars that ever spawned on that island were rather clueless to who/what TBR was, for the most part..

I had one that did hate a couple of them, because she saw them kill an ignorant (sorry colonel ) newspawn on the basis of stupid pride. She was actually trying to go to the forest with someone to tell Nick, then she got left behind and confused on which way to go. A couple were in the forest for awhile before it was solely TBR, and they got along fine with the people there. Then they all died.

From my current account, only two of my chars from that island have been influenced by TBR. One negatively... but she didn't hate them even when she knew she would die without being told why, she just died confused and hurt because she'd never done anything to anyone. She'd never heard of them until then. The other character... could never hate them.

I totally agree with you HF. The rabid TBR hate is more OOC than IC in many cases, in my opinion.

I see so many players posting here about how much they hate TBR or Nick and flat out saying they will fight against them if they can. This alone influences players who have never had a char on the K Island.

Then newspawns who have never met him or heard him referred to as such, calling him Nicki. It's a dead giveaway that these players have had previous dealings with TBR.

Kwor is so full of breachers. There is very little reason for Kwor to be the center of anti-TBR sentiment other than for OCC reasons. Chars there tell out and out lies about TBR to stir up anger.

I saw Nick Blackrock enter Kwor alone to explain his actions in Kwor Beach. He had legitimate reasons to attack there but because the people he was attacking had a lot of OOC influence in Kwor his request for justice was ignored. He was attacked but didn't fight back. The next thing I know people are saying he came with other tribe members and attacked people in Kwor. I know this can just be char rp but to have it be so pervasive smacks to me of OCC influence that cannot help but make new players think that Nick is evil when they should be making their own discoveries and decisions through their characters.

My character spawned in East Kol where the whole town was terrified of the Blackrocks... lead by a few characters who like too much drama.... with the result he had an almost racist prejudice about the Blackrocks which was later proved to be justified! My charracter always acted on IG infor, or perhaps misinformation, but it was definately part of the game...

I think you just proved my point, Phalynx.

I'm sure that TBR was mean to your char or killed him/her or whatever just like every other group on the island (and in the game, for that matter) does. There are very few groups in Cantr that aren't harsh to rule breakers and theives or sometimes for not much reason at all.

I'm not saying that TBR never did anything wrong. Just that there seems to be almost a conspiracy to make them out to be more evil than any other group has ever been and that it is spread by OOC influence.

I think that a lot of the lies and agression against the tribe had to do with other groups/chars wanting to get TBR's hematite and not liking the restrictions they placed on it. How dare they restrict a resource that was used to make weapons to attack them!

Erm.. no, no really she isnt. Karnon and Kwor both had a problem with the restrictions.

Basically, Karnon and Kwor got pissed off about the restrictions. Then various stories about TBR 'atrocities' got exaggerated as a reason to wage war against them.

A lot of this was done knowingly, a lot of this (my character included) was done because these stories were genuinely believed by that character.

After that stage, it did turn into a huge OOC 'we all hate TBR' thing - which just perpetuated the in-game myths.

I honestly don't understand why people would OOC-ly hate TBR.
They spiced up the game soooo much since they first took over Karnon Forest.

Coup d'etats, takeovers, wars, and rivalries, unfortunatly, don't happen near enough.

I love the friggen Blackrocks

WEll, Idid have a char in the forest once back when I first started playing and I have to say the laws were pretty freaking scary. She did leave safely though, and since I decided to starve her before very long I didn't see much of the rest of the island, but the other two towns I saw both had normal laws at least at first glance, except for one that didn't allow you to gather healing food. (And even with that one, I saw a person politely asked to stop, not attacked first.)

HUH? :?:

I can assure you that if you were referring to me as a newspawn, you are way off base. I've characters that loved, then hated Nicki-poo (Cherize in the early 800's), betrayed him (Estiil), and helped him survive (Kiirin).

Some of it is displeasure with the character, others may have a problem with the player. Either way, he was never boring.

There are several newspawns who have called him that. I have no idea if any were yours or not.

And I have heard several established charracters using 'Nicki'.. the newspawns may not even know him as anything else...
