Quite so Sunni. Agree with every word... but common sense isn't that common, as Oscar Wilde or someone said.

Sums up my concern nicely.

Those without common sense, or the malicious will ignore such a rule extension in any case, but it would impeded discussion here....

Thnk we all agree on what the problem is, perhaps not on what we wish to sacrifice for the sake of the gaming expereince...

Enough said. :P

And yes, I do realize there are some that are not so sensible, but that's why we have moderators.

Hmm, still, I think a longer guideline is better, and I'm still concerned about the subconscious effect of OOC dicussion on player's actions

Most events that are 4 days old.. will not effect the way a player chooses to play his/her charri.... certain things... which are on going... do. To extend the 4 day rule is silly. I had a charri..killed by the barons... 4 days later...I said she had... but didn't give specifics that would/could effect further incidents..

Say you have a first time pirate/thief... he/she murders, loots and escapes..they follow and he/she dies... 4 days after the event.. who is it going to effect?

Your charri discovers Thyme on island... 4 days later you brag about it..but leave out the critical things like WHERE!... who does that effect?

Extending the rule is expected if say... a band of people are going on a murdering spree.. town to town... discussion of the whens, wheres and charri names CAN effect play.

Use common sense... think before you post... think of how the news you will tell or incident you wish to discuss could effect others in the game.

Deadbeat example is of Buzz.

The pirates in the Black Gold were killed because of it- I don't see -exactly- how news could spread so fast. It effected everyone's sub-conscious, come on, no one had any regrets, NOR did anyone want to throw them in jail because they killed Buzz and we all know it... Even my character could be heard wondering aloud whether we should drag them into a jail rather than kill them as we don't know for sure if they did anything wrong- even though me as a player wanted them dead and knew they were the ones...

Sunni, you know what I mean.

When I say silence of an event,
I mean until all occupants are dead, or it will not effect them.

Sunni- how many boats went after the Black Gold to kill them? None. Do you know what killed the pirates aboard the ship? Not Tessa and Sabine, the Forums.

The point of triple-posting?

I thought the double-post was an accident... but... :?

Sorry, I couldn't help having all these quotes...

I like the idea of not being able to talk about ongoing things in the forum.
The following statement is not true.

That's the kind of situation I'm concerned about.

The Black Gold? Buzz?

:?:

I've never heard of them and I don't remember either of those things being mentioned on the forum, so the OOC info couldn't have been that widespread...

Edit: Okay, just did a search and in the Gone But Not Forgotten thread I came across a mention of the death of a char named Buzz Wright, no details given. I also see one post that mentions the Black Gold in the Polish forums, but from what I could make out after running it through a translator I think it's about one of those "global" messages travellers accidentally see sometime, and not a pirate attack itself.

Am I missing something? Was their a thread that was deleted when I wasn't at the forum, maybe?
