The Apocalypse
Plain and simple: I suggest a universal Cantr reset.
Everything erased. Empty settlements with prowling beasts and only newspawns at the start of a new Cantr Era. No overflowing storerooms from the days before gathering slots. No oldy characters with crossbows from the days before semi-finished products.
A new fresh start for everyone. To bring some new life to things. To bring a spark of life to the sleepy world of Cantr.
Should Cantr be reset now or should some game mechanics be changed for the better first?

.....Wow..... Are you my twin brother(but with wierder ideas?)
No. Plain and symple... no. Not yet at least. First off, I don't really think we actually need one of these, even if we were to have to implument somthing compleatly new(many times things have been rejected becous of the need of a reset.... when I know that it would not be needed, That we should just put it there, and have people intagrate. Its alot better to do that than to have a reset.)
I say, we shouldn't do this entil we have everything ready for the implamintation of many sugestion.
This idea, I can see were it is coming frome... Many times I have been pursicuted fore the weirdest things( being a newspawn, not having a name being the promonant one)

I actually wrote the exact same suggestion about six hours ago. I had the title, the post written, then I just didn't post it -I guess i realised it wasn't a suggestion to be taken seriously.
Being said, I think it does raise a serious issue. Many players I know, as well as myself, would like the challenge, and the experience of starting anew, no huge stockpile of resources or tools, no social or political history, nothing.
(see here: http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5545 )
A total wipe is not really preferable, but I did suggest before, that people should have the option of spawning on uninhabited, and far-off islands. A chance to develop new societies and cultures and politics, with no history.
Whoever you vote for.

Plain and Simple: No. I have worked too hard on my characters to have them wiped, besides, all cantr history would be lost. This is a really, really bad idea

WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone's got more stuff than me, I'll never get ahead of anyone honestly and cheating is too hard! Just reset the whole game and piss of hundreds of people so I can feel important!
Ok, I know that's not what you're saying, but that's how it comes across.
I don't support a reset for a number of reasons. First off, with tiredness, sickness, new eating values, and item rot, creating anything will take months and months. I have a character in one of those lands where everything is blank. We've never seen any buildings and the most advanced technology we have is a stone axe. I've been there since 1476.
This game is STILL riding off the surge of technology that was made when you could pull iron from the ground. To reset it all would be to put everyone into a dark age.
Secondly, the most important resource, information, would either still be completely valid, or totally useless. Look at the treefeather map. If we just use the same world, when we all start spawning again, we'll know where everything is. If we take the time to make a whole new world, then all the effort treefeather put into her map is a waste. Lose either way.
Lastly, Many people like the characters and societies they've helped create. To have those vanish in a poof would be wrong.

Go exploring. There's plenty of empty spaces. Now, in the past, when the English-area was spawned via location-centric "spawn points," the administration periodically opened up new ones: K-island and Aki island being the most famous (and recent) examples. I wouldn't mind Jos and the crew doing that again somewhere far from the rest of civilization. In fact, I'd really really like it. Just not so many animals, please.
No to resets. Yes to new frontiers.

K island was among the old lands like Siom and treefeather, and I've heard rumors Aki was founded by sailors as well. Only the oldbies know for sure. But, All Aki's older settlements are on the coast, there's hardly any buildings inland. Leads one to believe in the sailors stories. What makes Aki more survivable than Burgeo would be the onions and tomatoes, where Burgeo only had turkeys.

There is one problem to this. Conection. Curently, cantarians have a large conection with many people, and they have trade routs, and they have staked their claim.
If we were to do this, It would take(ashuradly) 10 years-30 (cantr)years for everyone to get conected again, and thats if everyone stays in cantr(wich is most posible) And thats what everyone is worryd about, a decreas in the econamy, and having to start over again.)
As for you, Agar, You just weren't in a good position. You weren't in the perfict position I'm in. I was spawned, and then I moved over the mountains and through the woods.... To a place with food we goooo.
Currently I'm the oldest person there, and one of the founders of the place. My two buddys died.*Sob* PEOPLE CEEP ON DYING!!!

I like it personally but it would be very very risky.
The act in itself could either make or break the game. The challenge of starting from scratch would keep me really interested. I have explorer characters but I need social interaction to keep it interesting. Is it a co-incidence that someone came a little close to CRB with the name John Locke? I like the kind of 'Lost' thing - a group of people in a strange place starting from scratch...
Trouble is a number of established players would probably have a hissy fit and leave the game... although the number of men in their forties who seem to die of the sleeping sickness seeems to have increased greatly in just the last few months...
It would be great if we could use our credits to spawn a new charracter on a new island with a bunch of other people all on the same day, see the characters develop. A kind of halfway house..?

I'd have to say I'm with west on this one.
No reset. I like his idea of maybe some spawning points thrown out on some remote part of the world to start spreading people apart a little more. Think of the people and customs some crazy explorer might come across someday if that happened. That would be cool. But mostly, no reset. Too much lost history, too much wasted time in a sense.
