All of mine were exactly what I named them, misspellings and all. I really think it's more likely that people forget where they spawned, or remember incorrectly. With as many as 15 characters and real life on top of that, there is a lot to juggle.
I can recall at least two times when someone spawns, leaves town, comes back a few years later and wonder how they know people in the town where they spawned, since they've "never been here before". My character weren't the sort to point out the error in their thoughts though.

Yeah I have 10 characters alive, and over 20 dead ones, remembering some of their names is hard enough, I don't have a character over 25 at the moment so remembering spawn loacations is easier, and as my RPing gets better that information is more important..
Its particularly easy to end up misnaming places in poorly inhabited locations as you often rely on notes on the ground which turn out to be dropped by corpses from two towns away as an example.

Wow, you really had some problems with staying alive. I've only had 4 characters die. First two I made died from starvation. (one was travelling, one was in a building and didn't know how to get out)
I have 15 characters now. I don't know how I do it, but when I enter into another character, I know everything it knows. Most of my characters are 40.
