It was a stupid programming error, probably by Marol :P

That's weird. Does it have something to do with the location amnesia. Because all my (relatively young) characters know their birthplace. Would be a pity if it didn't work for everyone...

Great feature! It's given me a real sense of achievement to see that two of my charries have got from one side of their islands to the other!
Not so much my charrie that appears to have been wandering around in circles since he spawned.

Perhaps Surly's problem is related to the fact that older characters spawned when all the places had fixed names, rather than the default 'unnamed location' we have now. And because there had been no need to change place names back then, maybe when the resetting of all the place names thing went through, it counted for those in character's 'memories' too.

It is changed to spawned, as you wish.

My charries some of them have known locations and some unnamed places. It just depends on whether or not you ever put that town name into their memory.

[edit] I wondering if you could change an unnamed location to "spawnplace" so you know if you ever see it again

Positively. It's just a link to the location in memory.

I know this because some of my chars have very colorful names for places, and they rolled into Spawn place. :D

It is, in no small part, because most of my chars live away from where they spawn.

It is not, however, an issue to do with the fixed names vs. dynamic names issue. Two of my chars, spawned well before the dynamic names issue arose, can replace the "unnamed location", or in one instance had it already filled as he went back since he spawned. The ones that say "unnamed location" written in white and unchangeable... spawned before the changes in spawning. They spawned back when there were spawn points, and I believe this effects it somehow... I have even collected evidence that proves my suspicions. :)

In the hands of ProgD now... I trust them to sort it... and its not like it adversely affects me right now...

Yeah, I have some characters that say unnamed location because towns had names then. Though this will really help with one of my characters so I can recognize the town that I still don't remember the name of, but I just know that I spawned there.

The birthplace aren't fully perfected... Because some of my chars have spawning location that i know it's wrong.

One of them have his birthplace several points away from his actual birthplace.

Or have they moved from their birthplace to their spawning location during his/her first 20 years so the spawning and birthplace are different:?:

There is no reason nor mechanism for the computer to lie to you about this. The location displayed is the actual location where that character was spawned, or rather the dynamic name you have for that location. Either you have the location named wrong, or you don't correctly remember the spawning location of those characters.

One of my chars was spawned in a village to the west of a island. He draws maps and have walked to the east. He's halfway down the island.

His actual spawning point is almost at the western end of the island. But the point where he was born are between the actual spawn point and where he is now. And he hasen't renamed any points that he have already
been at and named. And he have newer traveled more than one point in to the direction of the western part of the island.

He have only traveled one point in the western direction but several in the eastern direction. To get from birth place to actual spawn point you have to travel at least two points. But he have only traveled one point in that direction.

X - Real spawn point (Traveled one point west and then only east)
|
| Some points
|
X - "Spawn piont"
|
| Some points
|
X - Where he is now

 So the chars must have a life before we take controll over them. Since the actual and birth points are different.

I think i have one more char that have a wrong birth point. But this char is the one i have strong evidence of it.

Mine are all exactly right. I kept a log of when and where they were spawned for my own curiosity's sake, and it corresponds with the dates and places now on their pages.

Liljum,

If you can provide your character logs to the appropriate department to prove your point, that should settle it.

I'm afraid you are incorrect . The spawning point data is right
There are a small proportion of older characters who have no spawn location recorded other than that ALL characters have a spawn location correctly recorded and now displayed.
