I read the whole thread and the games that people suggested are like Cantr aren't anything like Cantr in the ways that are most important to me. I love everything about how Cantr works and runs, but the heavy dependence on text is driving me up the wall. I'm a visual learner. I don't like talking to a list of men/women in their [insert decade]ties. I don't like spawning in a place with a lot of buildings and people and it being an "unnamed location". If I'm in a town why can't it just be obvious? I don't like being a pixel moving over pixels not really having any idea what is going on around me. This is a game for the blind. If there were something as simple as a monotonous symbol to stand for every building and a symbol for men, women, objects, vehicles, etc. that would be great improvement than a pixel on an obscure map with a list of things around it. Are there any plans to create a more graphic comprehensive version of the game?

What do you mean? There's already a super-photo-realistic version of Cantr (Called Cantr 3D). It's just not linked to anywhere on any site and can not be searched for on any search engine. The only way to find it is to mess around with the URLs. It's there... trust me. Even if it takes a few weeks, you can find it. Really.

I don't want to see graphics in Cantr.
Being in a town is obvious already. "What is going on" is already defined in all the important ways, the rest is up to you. I don't even try to "visualize" Cantr for the most part.

It's a public beta, although I think you had to apply before yesterday to get into it...
I've been on the beta team for a month now. I have to say, I'm not as excited about it as I was. At the moment, lag/sync issues aside (which are still a major issue) the game itself isn't as full as I'd hoped. The game world is relatively tiny, and large expanses of the game world have no function, so are always empty, making the actual used space even smaller. Without research, which won't be implemented at releases, the actual options of what you can get your character to do - repairing or manufacturing, are intensely dull. Various other interface and graphical glitches still remain, and the NPCs, whilst a whole lot better, still have a few problems.
Unless they really pull some major tricks out of the bag that we don't know about, before the release on May 2nd, it won't be worth it.
It hurts me to say that, as the game concept is wonderful, the graphics are original and impressive, and the community is very heavily RP-centric. All in all, it has the makings of a fabulous game, it's just only half-a-fabulous game at the moment, I think.
But, don't listen to my crap. I'm only being critical because I had really high expectations. Loads of people love it.
It's released on May 2nd, with a 14 day free trial, so I advise anyone to check it out then (don;t worry, I'll remind you all nearer the time
)
