You see a man in his early twenties....

Postby MrPenguin589 » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:02 pm

Basically, instead of just "In his/her twenties/thirties/etc. you add early/mid/late. Because there is a lot of difference between early twenties and late twenties, especially in Cantr terms. Doesn't it make sense to be able to distinguish between a newspawn and someone who's almost 30?
All of my endings are waiting to begin.

I wholeheartedly agree / BlueNine likes, means you get out of that "don't listen to him guys...he's a n000000000000000b" stage quicker

I say the dividers should be

20, 21, 22 - early
23, 24, 25 - mid
26, 27, 28, 29 - late

What do you think?

I think more like:

20-23 is early
24-26 is mid
27-29 is late

26 is still mid to me, and 23 is still early...

Oh yea, I do like the idea..

Good idea, and I like hermit's numbers. Perhaps there should be a special number for people who are twenty though. "You see a young man/woman".

I'm not so sure on this. I know people who look far younger or older than they really are.

Maybe the divisions could overlap so that it says a man/woman who appears to be in their mid to late twenties (or late twenties to early thirties, etc).

The Penguin finally came up with a suggestion I like. :) Congrats.

And Hermie's numbers float my boat too.

In principle its good and makes sense....

in practice a number of my charries are playing 'above their weight' so to speak and their self proclaimed reputation might thus suffer... still it could make things interesting!

:D Well, at least ONE of my ideas is good...
And, could I add another thing... add "appears to be" as in "You see a man who appears to be in his mid twenties." Then you could allow for early/mid or mid/late overlap, etc.
All of my endings are waiting to begin.

I'm against this idea for several reasons, firstly I feel that knowing which approximate decade another character is in age, is sufficient. I can see no real in-game reason for knowing finer graduations of age . If it's because you want to identify newer spawned characters more easily so that you can react to them differently, as has been implied, then I'd say thats bordering on a CRB.

It has always been the intention to keep specific character age private to the player of that character, which is why we have the current system.

There are already in-game methods to see who is older than who, not least asking the characters in question.

When Children are introduced then there should be some finer graduations for character below 20 but as I say, I see no argument for introducing this for adult Cantrians.
