How do i know....?

How do i know that i'm using my stoneaxe when i'm collecting wood?
It seems like im collecting wood as fast as i would without any tools.

So, does collecting with tools really work?

Yes, it does... and part of how quickly you'll gather it will depend on your char's skill... If your char is awkward, it may well only collect 300g in a day with the stone axe instead of 399.
