Attempt to Kill
Here's a suggestion from a sleepy Dee: instead of just "hitting", why won't there be an "attempt to kill" option? Now, not everyone will have to use, well, except in wars of course.
This is a very undetailed suggestion, just giving the main idea.. But, if a murder would take place by a murderer, just one murderer not many, will there ever be a way to introduce crime solving?
Haha, I know I'm just dreaming here, but it would be nice. It would be nice to find a body, then finding out who the killer is.. That way, we'll find a new job for police men to do.
Maybe that will require some skills... Or something. Well, you get the idea, don't you?
You think up the details.

No... I don't think so... unleas it's a project, and you are waiting in a room(or somewear) for your victem, and then when he or she comes, you JUMP EM!!! but still.... No... I don't like this idea..

I find this idea interesting. This would be able to make the use of full-class assassins and such. Plus small weapons are now concealable; why not put stealth a bit more further?
Chances are, the odds of kill a person in one strike would be very small, due to having to hit a vital part of the body, like the neck, but with experience, even hitting with a bare fist could make a fatal blow to the victim. How much experiece? I would estimate, a lifetime.
Plus, even if you did kill someone in one hit, wouldn't you still be detected of the action, like all other attacks? To kill someone in one hit and be able to go away unoticed would be nearly impossible without skill of epic proportions.

I find this suggestion pretty scary.
A one hit kill in Cantr could be disastrous if the option fell into the hands of an unaware player of the lands.
Just imagine..it's not hard when you see it often enough.
1499. a man in his twenties says.hi.....who r u
1499. a man in his twenties says. "hello.... how do you play.
1499. a man in his twenties says."which ones of you are NPC's
1499. a man in his twenties says. "do you get points for killing i got a kill button."
1499. a man in his twenties says."hey im bord!!!!!!!! whuz up u not hear me!!!.
1499. You see a man in his twenties kill the whole of Siom through boredom.
Meanwhile his sister is currently taking out Droif, Lakeside, Seatown..must i go on...
(capitals left out deliberately to make it more like it happens)

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent and Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.

I do not like the idea of being able to kill someone with one blow, ever.
However, I do like the idea of fingerprints, or some other method of identifying those who have hit or killed someone. Even fingerprints left on stolen items would be cool.
I would see these fingerprints as having to be a long number, and every character has his own number. But, the average char would not be able to see another chars number, just as a person cannot see someone's distinct fingerprint. Would require a special, expensive, fingerprint detecting machine, first to find the fingerprint on the body or item, then to test people. (two different machines/tools)
Ooohhhh, I like it!
A city can set up a registry of fingerprints for all citizens, and make it a requirement of visitors to be tested when they arrive in town. Would be a project, requiring a day perhaps. The fingerprinter would not be able to work on anything else during the process, but the fingerprintee would. (Just as a dragee can).

I don't really like this idea. The concept of a quick-kill that does not take days, should be kept in-place, not overshadowed by an "assassination" type skill discussed here.
Even if there were ways to counter it, since death is permanent, and newspawns already have to spend a few days just getting basic tools and food (unless others are over-generous), there is way too much potential for abuse.
