That's a matter of interpretation, I have one who I consider is on the way in an organisation, and one who leads a community, albeit small and poorly resourced... but what difference does that make?

Only if you have the inability to be objective... oh you're an oldbie too!

:?

It's much different if you're leading an underdeveloped community or a highly structured, well organized community. No need to get snarky, objectivity has nothing to do with it.

I have the right to get snarky...

Oh you haven't been a leader you haven't got the right to comment... as if... typifies the worst possible attitude...

I don't recall that being typed by anyone or really insinuated. :?

And getting snarky doesn't get you anywhere. :P Didn't say you didn't have a right, everyone has the right to be whatever, I said there's no need to get snarky.

Not true, some of us have roleplayed in other environments/games and start off well. Sure it takes some time to adjust but not long til you learn the frame that limits role development in Cantr (for example society structures, the lack of parents and background history, limitations posed by the lack of variety and resources).

Yeah, I agree, even though I think that quoote was a little out of context...he was talking about knowing how to RP to get things, not knowing how to RP, period. (or I would have to take offense and point out that 'you know you're an oldy when your sixty plus year old character just stands around town sleeping all the time and somehow is automatically respected despite being less active than your average newspawn.)

Anyway, my oldest character is 27, and I have a 24 year old who's basically been given a longboat, iron shield, nice bow, and a couple of other tools, apparently just for being (hyper)active. :) My 27 year old had a raker until just a couple of days ago, also gotten by being active and roleplaying, and I've got another char just a little younger who traded for a bunch of iron and now runs a town.

Yeah, the big scale is fun. Especially inheriting entire towns on the sole basis of being active. And not always developing communities. Though to be fair those characters are in their late-30's, but a couple have taken over towns before they were 30. Activity rules all else.

Is your bone club licensed?

Let's see....Tony Blair's Cantr:

1) Everyone is incredibly nice and they smile all the time. Especially Mr Blair, who is just so amazingly cheerful and bobs his head and grins widely and greets everyone in town every single day. It is politically correct to smile. If you can't bring yourself to smile, you should try another town.

2) Mr Blair carries six crossbows and Mr Brown carries six crossbows. Nobody else is seen carrying anything. It is in theory possible to own a weapon, but the licensing period is so long that nobody else in town is old enough to have obtained one yet. It is not politically correct to want to own a weapon. If you want to own a weapon, you should perhaps try another town.

3) Mr Blair's Cantr is a very free place. You can do anything you like. You can even hunt--provided you have a permit, of course. On the subject of permits, see (2) above. On the whole, it is not politically correct to like hunting, eating meat, wearing fur or lighting fires. If you like such things, you should perhaps try another town...

4) You are also prohibited from smoking in public, spanking your children or doing anything whatsoever with a hosepipe. There are still occasional ways to enjoy yourself, but new legislation is continually being proposed as soon as such ways are identified.

However, the golden rule is: SMILE!

Hmm, sounds a lot like some people's ideal Cantrian town.

Heh, sounds exactly like one of mine. If it weren't for the iron shield, I'd ask if you were playing one of the Pheonix crew... oops! ;)
