The sea

Postby deadboy » Sat Apr 08, 2006 9:40 pm

Now this is quite a bizarre suggstion, but I thought about it, and I think it may be a good idea, or it may be absolutely rubbish, either way :D

Now, many people have been saying that they want a way to destroy notes yes?

And I want a way of getting rid of all those spare animal parts that clog up buildings

So how about this? In seaside towns there is a storage container called The Sea. If you place anything inside this container it disappears, as it you dumped it in the sea and it were washed away. And I know the sea isn't really a storage container, but it could be thought of as a big one if you really wanted to, and it seems a reasonable way of cutting down the difficulty in programming

So what do you think?

Only if the notes can wash up on different islands.... that could be interesting.. Message in a bottle style!

You know I was thinking about this, but the way I reckoned it was that if a town didn't want the items so much they were willing to get rid of it, no other town would want it either, so items couldn't wash up at other towns, but yeah notes could I suppose, or there could be a certain item you have to make (bottle) to make notes able to float and turn up at other towns

Personally I'm waiting for Sho to tell us how many time this has been suggested before! :P

There is no weight limit I know of for "The Ground" ... So, just leave them in piles on the ground if you don't want to store them. Done.

If it's important to you that they not be left laying about, then solve that in character, but only sea side locations getting to pollute the oceans sounds unnesecary.
Reality was never my strong point.

I can't see why it is unnecessary, we do it in real life don't we

I'm all for inland towns carting their rubbish to the coast, dumping it in the sea... as long as the resulting pollution has an effect on everyone.

If pollution were to come into effect, it should likewise affect the food that is left to spoil outside, rather than just disappear.

Phalynx, don't be asinine.

The "message in a bottle" has been suggested before (http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7515). Connecting it to this would be hellish in terms of the server resources required - no matter what procedure is used to handle drift, it would have to be run on thousands of notes.

I am tempted to lock this. Just give up on the idea of getting rid of notes. Not going to happen. There is an in-game solution, just use it.

All right then :P no getting rid of notes, but it would still be useful for getting rid of other waste

And really angry people could break into peoples homes and throw all of thier hard earned wealth into the sea in front of thier eyes whilst screaming abuse at them

Now that would be fun
