The only way it would be 'immoral' is if people were somehow cheating to vote more than they're supposed to be allowed to. Cantr and most other online games always encourage people to vote, it's just that people are usually too lazy to even take two seconds to click a button without an incentive. It's not like it's inflating the votes or anything, isn't it kind of a given that people who enjoy a game nad play it every day would want to recommend it to others?
A really good voting system would send in a vote everytime you logged into a game, Cantr would definititely be #1 then and that'll prove to the people on the voting site how addictive it is.
(And for the last time it doesn't give you an unfair advantage! It's not like they;re selling credits through PayPal or anything! Anybody can vote, it's stupidly easy and there's no reason why you shouldn't. Even if your 'morally opposed' to gaining credits you can support the game anyway and just not use them.)

I made my comment about morals to stir things up... and it seems to have worked. *grins*
But my point was that these voting sites, as Phalanx pointed out, are not a reliable indication of the best games, but which can mobilise the most support for voting... just like politics and advertising generally, I guess.

Well yeah, but if you're not fast, or have a slow computer, it costs a minute or two (possibly five for those with really lousy computers). Unfortunately, you'd have to be logged in for this to work, or the game wouldn't know who to award the minutes. A bit of a conundrum...

I actually see this as somewhat of a good thing. If you are dedicated to saving up credits for future use, by voting, etc. Then you'd be willnig to spend a few minutes now and then. I think of it as "banking" those minutes for use when it's implimented to buy extra minutes eventually.
For those of you who don't want to get the credits, you don't have to.
Granted, I'm speaking as one using an old PII 600MB processor over dial-up, so am pretty much teh epitome of sloooow systems. A vote does cost me a good two minutes. But I'm still voting. I don't ever use up all 200 minutes anyway, so it's not that huge a loss every so often.

I thought you didn't lose any minutes at all though, as long as you don't click to go to a char page from the main page when it's open for a long time? I've left it open for 30min before and closed it out then logged back in to have not lost any..

Erm yeah, but you may leave it on the charrie selection screen with 175 mins, then a few mins later open up to see that 15 of your precious minutes have been spent by your making a cup of tea :O...
Has anyone decided how much an extra character slot will be? Same for extra minutes, and does the extra minute thing top up your maximum so you get say... 220 minutes a day?
