The only thing I would use extra minutes for would be a one-time thing, like trying to take over a city by force, where you would need to be very alert for a longer period of time. If I could stockpile extra minutes and use them when I wanted, say, 300 minutes per day over a critical two-day period, it might make me more willing to consider doing more dramatic, dangerous, time-intensive things -- and that could be good for the game. People often complain that there's no opportunity to do this kind of thing anymore, it's been made too difficult. Knowing you wouldn't run out of minutes in a town full of people who are pissed off and ready to drag you or attack you might mitigate that problem.

Other than that I never run out of minutes anyway so can't imagine why I would need more on a regular basis.

I see that I'm collecting credits now. Do we have any rates defined for minutes and chars?

The website might have multimillions of dollars coming in if everyone got a permanent 1 minute for every 5 dollars they paid.

Possibly, but that will never happen. Even without being asked, many players have stated their opposition to anything of the sort.

Extra charries and/or extra minutes for voting = Agar not voting.

Someone that can find the statistics for this, can we see how many players have thier Max 15 characters? Percentage wise, how many players would be able to use extra characters. If there's a way to track that for minutes too, I'd love to see those stats as well.

Still, what about my idea for knowing our own skills more clearly for those of us not maxed out? It doesn't make us better, just lets us know where we stand better. X amount of credits for the value of one character's single skill. Spend 3 credits (example) and I'd know what my character Bob's skill in cooking would be, as in (skillful : 872/1000) or something like that.

I'd vote my ass off for something like that.
Reality was never my strong point.

I like Agars suggestion.

And it works better without any in-game benefits, anyway.

I've personally not voted since this was implicated. Though I only voted 3 or 4 times a week beforehand...So not really a great protest.

I don't much care for Agar's suggestion in any way. You don't need to know exactly what the numbers are for your char's skill in something. That just makes it statistics. I see too many problems with that which would affect the game more in a worse way than the credits for chars or minutes.

I'm rather torn about the credits. I somewhat like the idea, at the same time I don't really like it, but I don't see how it will seriously affect anything. I know it won't affect me. I doubt I'll want another char (I have 15). If I do, it will only be one or two. If I were to get minutes, it would be very rare and only when I needed them. Maybe there should be a max of only being able to save up for 5 extra char slots. And the minutes should definitely be temporary, one-time minutes. It would be nice to know what exactly the limitations are going to be on those things, but I'm sure we'll find out when it's time to find out.

And.. BadMonkey.. How can you say it works better without in-game benefits, if they haven't tried it yet? ;) Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Won't know until it's actually tried.

Overall, I don't think it's going to be exactly easy to get enough credits for any of the things offered, so it won't be too much of a big deal and will take a player a while to save up the credits for what they want. Not really too much of an in-game incentive. Also, at least it's not something based on how much money someone puts into the game, too. It will be based on how many times a person can be bothered to click those vote links. So it's not based on finances or how much time you can spend playing or how much time you can spend volunteering. It's based on how lazy you are to spend a few seconds clicking a link and a vote button. And you can't vote more than once a day on each site, so everyone has an equal amount of chances to earn credits every day. The only thing is whether you take those chances or not. Granted, there's probably no one that can take advantages of those chances every day, as there is that ambiguous thing called life and some days you can't even make it to Cantr.

Hopefully it will encourage some more voting. I'll admit, I scarcely ever remember to vote, and I doubt this will make me remember, but hey, who knows? Doesn't hurt to try. At least I'll remember while this is being debated.

I downright refuse to vote while there is credits

the fact that I already have one credit and mean to get one tommorow is purely coincedental

I've got to say it's a smart idea and I'm starting to warm to it, if there is a high incentive to vote, then people will do it whether they agree with it or not, and that will lead to cantr going higher on the rankings, which will lead to more people playing

the bottom line is that if there is more players then cantr is going to become more enjoyable.

I like it, but we need to keep the benefits high enough that people can be bothered to get them

but low enough that there isn't the amount of complaining that there has been here

After reading only parts of the above thread just a few comments:

1) The price balance will be attempted such that you can collect minutes for emergencies - e.g. an extra hour a week or so. Not so that you can chat for days on end by just voting enough.

2) Some abuse is possible, but not that easy. You need multiple IPs and disconnecting and connecting again to the internet, just for one more credit ;) - rather pointless.

3) An extra char is likely to be pricy. Haven't decided on a price yet, though.

4) There are certainly no plans to give richer players advantages over poorer players. Donating does not lead to any extra privileges, and credits cannot be bought by donating.

Minor correction.

Ultimate Games Directory wrote:Voting
Each IP (your internet protocol) address can vote once for each game per hour.
Every month the voting total for each game is reset so new games have a chance to catch up.

I read all the complaints and I still don't see how this is givign anyone that much of an advantage. Everyone has the ability to click a button, right? And it takes like two seconds?

The hour/day thing will have to be fixed though, after Mafia Salad's post I just tried voting at the Ultimate Games place again to see if it gave you a credit every time you voted or if it kept track somehow so you only got one a day, and I have two credits now. (Maybe the hor ones should only give you part of a credit, so people will still vote a lot but not get too many?)

I don't know...but before the credits thing showed up. I'd only voted ONCE on one site, and that was it. Since that credits thing has shown up, I know I've voted on every site. Take it how you will, but that's how it happened with me.

Since I found out it was hourly, I've vote on the Ultimate Game Directory whenever I remember. usually 2-3 times a day. Since yesterday was a weekend and I could long on and off at leasure I voted several times and had 11 or 12 credits when I logged on this morning.

On that note, for UGD we already have around twice as many votes in the first few days of this month then we did all of last month. So marketing wise the credits are great. I still don't like the extra minutes/chars though.
