MAL: It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him, was one kind of sumbitch or another.

MAL: Offering to shoot us might not work so well as an incentive as you might imagine.

MAL: I mean, let's say you did kill us. Or didn't. There could be torture. Whatever.

MAL: Well my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

The quote that RK passed me up with.

MAL: I'm thinkin' you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling, so why don't we just ignore each other 'til we go away?

MAL: Well, they tell you never hit a man with a closed fist, but it is on occasion hilarious.

MAL: ...shouldn't you be off bringing religiosity to the fuzzy-wuzzys or some such?
BOOK: Oh, I've got heathens aplenty right here.

NISKA: You do not like I kill this man.
MAL: Oh, no. I'm sure he was a very bad person.
NISKA: My wife's nephew. At dinner, I'm getting earful.

HARKEN: You fought with Captain Reynolds in the war?
ZOE: Fought with a lot of people in the war.
HARKEN: And your husband?
ZOE: Fight with him sometimes, too.

ZOE: Planet's coming up a mite fast.
WASH: That's just cause, I'm going down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all.
MAL: Well, that happens, let me know.

MAL: Sure, it's humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man. *stabs man once* Guess I'm just a good man. *stabs man again* Well, I'm all right.

River sits at the kitchen table. Book enters.

BOOK
What are we up to, sweetheart?

RIVER
Fixing your Bible.

BOOK
I, um, what?

RIVER
Bible's broken. Contradictions, false
logistics - doesn't make sense.

She's marked up the bible, with crossed-out passages

BOOK
No, no. You - you can't...

RIVER
So we'll integrate non-progressional evolution
theory with God's creation of Eden. 11 inherent
metaphoric parallels already there. Eleven.
Important number. Prime number. One goes into
the house of 11 11 times, but always comes out
one. Noah's ark is a problem.

BOOK
Really?

RIVER
We'll have to call it "early quantum state
phenomenon." Only way to fit 5000 species
of mammal on the same boat.
(rips out page)

BOOK
Give me that. River, you don't...fix the Bible.

RIVER
It's broken. Doesn't make sense.

BOOK
It's not about making sense. It's about believing
in something and letting that belief be real enough
to change your life. It's about faith. You don't
fix faith, River. It fixes you.
(tries to take Bible pages from
River; fails)
You hang on to those, now.

What is this from? What is Captain Reynolds? Based on all the qoutes it seems like some mixture of Sci-Fi, Civil War, American Dough Boys in WWI, and British Imperialism in Africa... I don't know I can't make sense of it. Direct me?
