We are in the process of implementing a system where you can earn credits as a player by voting for Cantr or by referring other people you know to Cantr. These credits can then be used to buy extra minutes or to buy an extra character slot. Prices and rewards have yet to be fixed, and most functionality is not there yet, but you can already refer players to Cantr and this will be recorded, so that once it is fully implemented, you will receive those credits. When you refer a player to Cantr, do not forget to give them your player ID. Only new players that actually play will lead to credits being transferred to your account, not every application, and this transfer will be at least ten days later than the application day itself.

I've been wanting a newspawn as my youngest is 29, but didn't want to kill off any of my other ones :D :D :D :D *hugs everyone that made this possible*

Edit: I would like to see numbers, so I added poll.

I saw that to. Cool! :D But I'm more interested in the extra minutes than the extra chars, no way I can manage more than ten at a time.

Hmm, I know for sure I can vote every day, but there might be a problem with getting other people to play...Lumin is like the only other literate person I know, or at least theonly one interested in text games.

Does it count if you get an old player to come back?

Anway, I think it's awesome, but I predict there will be people posting her soon who hate it and call Jos a sellout, that always happens when free games do things like this...

Well, it's not liek you get a free kilo of iron for every new player you recruit, a few free minutes or an extra character (which would probably suck up the free minutes and then some) aren't going to have much effect on the game, all they'll do is give the player a chance to waste more time.

I see this as mixed. There are Pros and Cons, but overall I think it will be a good thing. It's only a guess, but I'm going to assume the amount of credits earned compared to the cost to "buy" extra minutes or characters will be fairly steep.

I have not seen any hard numbers, but I would guess something along the lines of earning one credit for a vote each day, and perhaps 25 for referring people....and costing 500-800 credits for a new character or 150 for extra minutes.
You know, not so cheap as to let people go crazy with spending them. More useful for emergencies where you just need that extra little edge for a character or two.

...but that's only a guess. :) and the numbers are probably going to be more balanced than my examples there.

I'm sure they'd eventually catch on, and then you'd have no chars, otherwise people who wanted to play extra that badly would be doing it already...it'd be fifteen free chars and 200 extra minutes a day without needing any credits at all.

I don't like this.

Extra characters I'm iffy about. The more you have, the more likely you have to interact or do strange things to avoid interaction between them. I don't like awkward CRB dilemmas, and this could create a lot more of them. But I do have the urge to make more sometimes, so many more roles to fill, and none of my characters seem to die. (I keep them alive even if I hate them because starving to death with food around just doesn't seem natural)

I'm even less happy about the extra minutes idea.

Wont this put the players who have OOG obligations at an even bigger disadvantage then we already are. I mean if you have somebody buying up minutes, then there will come a point where they have so many that they can catch everything going on. It will be near imposable to catch them off guard for clever theivery, murder, etc. Or groups of characters who have uber minutes could gang up and destroy those of us who can only log on once a day.

Not to mention the possibility of even worse chat-room-syndrome in the game. I don't know about you, but I don't want to see Stacy-Zara type characters in every town with 5 hours of play time a day who fill the event screen with substanceless chatter. That would kill the society simulation part of the game because nobody would scroll through the events screen to find the important messages.

I could see how it could become a problem if it got out of hand, but how many times can a person vote every day, and how many people can you possible convince to play for more thn ten days or whatever the length was? Like nateflory said, it'll probably take a lot of credits, and I doubt it'll be like, so many extra minutes every day, but probably the chance would be there to cash in your credits for some one-time extra minutes in an emergency.

The way I play, I always have extra minutes left over on days when I'm working or when an exam is coming up, but whenever I'm free a lot of time sI run out (not so much now that they reset in the middle of the day, but still.) It'll be nice to be able to save up my credits and have a few extra minutes on weekend or whenever I know I won't have a bunch of interruptions. :)

I was looking at the extra minutes as permanent, like 215 a day instead of 200. But even if they are less credits for 1 time additions, won't this just widen the gap between the people who have time they can commit to the game and the people who don't? It would create a bigger player by player unbalance in the game. Some people would be moving and changing things quickly, while others would be stuck watching, not because the character is the type to sit and watch, but because the player can't commit the time to keep up with the people who want live interaction (I assume that plays a large part in the play of people who max out regularly) and can meet and plan thing out in a day instead of a week.

One of the great things about this game is you can make successful characters with 10 min a day. I don't want to see that change.

I prefer this system to that which was suggested before, much so. At least the only thing being rewarded here is publicizing Cantr, which can only be a good thing.

Yes, it's open to easy abuse, but I wouldn't worry too much about that.

As long as these 'points' are not made public, then I have no issue with this, I quite like the idea in fact.

The only thing that surprises me is that there are people out there for whom 15 characters and 200 minutes is not enough... I can hardly handle six (recently five :() characters...

I can always use extra minutes.!! I think it's great....

Umm...as for Stacey and Zara.....heh.....they're...um...interesting.
They're alright sometimes, then there's the other times when you just can't stand them. hehe.

I'm not too sure about the extra character thing though. I know with 15...I keep my slots filled with characters. I keep thinking I'll get a few killed off and just have a few to deal with but never happens. I enjoy each character too much but when you have so many, it sometimes does become hard to keep them apart and seperate. Mine end up running into each other at times. And if there's a character slot, I'd have to make a new one and then it'd be that much harder. lol
