(Kind of like a reverse adoption, where the parents chose from a list who is suitable to play their kid?)

To me, that has massive potential for abuse and Capital Rule breaking, contacting the player beforehand, its almost like asking the player where they want to spawn

Perhaps you are right...it would be rather inviting to cheat in that way.

Still, some form of responsibility should be declared, since badly RPed children can turn into a real nuisance (in a bad way) for everyone, and especially the parents.

I think the idea that there won't be alot of babies due to the economic disincentive isn't correct. Many people play economically driven characters along with RPing characters. I also believe that there are enough players that put RP before economics to keep a steady supply of children flowing. In addition, from what Jos has said, there will only be four 20 year-old slots, the rest will be child slots- I think there will be a lot of children.

With respect to those that believe there will be massive amounts of suicidal children: If there are, then the system can be adjusted, relatively easily, until then we can't look into the crystal ball.

There's a lot of talk about this, but I don't believe there will be a lot of suicidal children, for the simple reason that having parents eases you into wherever you're born. You don't always necessarily end up on the bottom rung of the ladder like if you're spawned.

For instance, in places with caste systems and strict laws, it's tempting to kill off a character that spawns there, because you're basically playing a sheep to the ones in power. But I don't think parents would bring children into a place where they didn't at least have a semi-bearable lifestyle, and at minimum a slim hope that their child would grow to be something special.

Also, when you spawn, you're expected to be a responsible adult, but you have nothing. Being born in a place, you are expected to be a baby. You still have nothing, but your parents will provide for you.

Once babies are implemented and people get used to them, there won't be a problem with people killing their characters off or not taking them seriously. Reproduction will be a solution to that problem.
