Sleeping -altering how "time left" works

Postby Doug R. » Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:29 am

Back when your minutes refreshed in the middle of the night (at least for us US people), things worked well. You played all day, ran out of minutes, and walla!, you'd log in the next day and you'd have 200 minutes again. Your charries were basicly on the same sleep cycle as the players. Now that we have completely opposite, with the minutes refreshing in the middle of the afternoon, things are all mucked up. If I have a particularly active evening, I can't do anything for 16 hours until my minutes reset, which is very sad and frustrating.

Various suggestions:

-Put the refresh back to the middle of the night or early morning.
-Allow players to set their own 24 hour period for refresh that best matches their schedules
-allow players to recoup time when they're logged off for long periods (say an hour or longer)

Hey it works that way for me now. It is great. Wake up and my time is resetted to 200 minutes. I sleep better too now. No more restless nights Having to sit on the computer all night to play my favourite game. Oh I am from Australia.

Exactly, you can't please everyone. I've adjusted to it... was 7am, now 7 pm here.

You have to have seriously busy characters and long-running conversations happeing in real-time to use all 200 minutes.

There are a number fo ways to 'save' minutes. It should be rare that people really use them all up.

Yesterday I had only 18 minutes left at reset. When you have a lot, you don't bother to log out while writing notes or long replies, and I also often play at night since the minutes reset at 9 pm my time.

I still think it would be nice to go back to the mobile minutes reset. It was systematic, moving an hour each day, but you weren't stuck with the awkward timing all the time. It seemed like the best way to even it out for everyone.

Me too, I like knowing exactly when it's supposed to reset... even if it's at 3am for me.

With the current reset time, it's also working out well for me (in the middle of the night). But I now have some sort of system, (finally sort it out after 6-7 Cantr year). I'll use 1/4 of my 200 in the morning during break, and 1/4 during the afternoon break time, and the rest when I go home. That way, I can also pace myself and not spend too much time on each character. So far, it's working out pretty good. (and I don't have to give up too much RL as well :) )

(although now that might be changing after I finally registered on the forum)

Hey, I love the way it is now, it's like getting 400 minutes a day! I can play all I want in the morning, and then go back in the evening and have 200 more minutes again, like magic. :D Before I always ran out towards the end of the day, which was kind of a pain since a lot of the people I needed to talk to didn't seem to come on until like 10 at night.

How about this?...
100min each 12h or 50min each 6h up to a limit of 200min!

I'll give an example:
You just started,... you have 200min.
You played 80min,... you have 120min.
6h has passed,... you have 170min.
You haven't logged in again...
6h has passed,... you have 200min.
You played 200min,... you have 0min.
6h has passed,... you have 50min.

This way no one can complain about time zones. And you even have the advantage of not having to wait another 20h in case you spent all your time as soon as you got it.
Carpe Diem
