OOC communication
I was wondering what everyones most used or preffereed choice of out of game communication was. Personally, I use MSN the most, but I was wanting to see if it were worth downloading mIRC or a similar program.

I dislike Aohell. I like yahoos set up better than msn. But most of the people who I got to know from the game are on msn.
When I need to ask a question that needs to be answered right away I prefer the messenger systems. But if it is something that doesn't need to be answered right away I like the boards. I guess I really don't have a "favorite"

I don't like MSN, because I always had the feeling it was spying on me. For some reason it needs to access every entry in the registry when it starts up...I run it, sometimes, but not very often.
Usually I'm running AIM and ICQ. As far as IRC, I use the client built into Mozilla; I'm not a power IRC user, so I don't know if it's a good one or not, but it works for me.

I agree that the amount of spam you get on ICQ sometimes is annoying. Certainly since these people are able to give you permission to add them to your contact list when you never asked them for it!
But I mostly use this forum and sometimes mIRC. In a few weeks I will also have a running debian system (finally I have found myself an old computer that has no use anymore for his former owner, but still has enough memory for me to let me do all the things I want to do with Debian).

The forum suits me better. A few minutes here a few minutes there.
That also another reason why I like Cantr over other online games. I can pick up where I left off and leave whenver something else happens. There's little expectation for two way conversation but it's fun when it happens.
That being said, I got to know alot of Cantr people on IM and it help me adjust my play style a bit to know the feeling of experinced players on the game and IRL. I think alot of irriating things that are seen in the game are from people who are not in the forum or IM. If your only seeing this though your chracters eyes then it look alot different.
But most importantly I can't be sneaky in the game if you see me log onto IM.

That's why I'm set to 'away' constantly. The people who know me well know I might really be on
I use msn. I think it's definitely worth your while to download the mIRC. I have it downloaded but tend to use it only when Cantr is offline. But, I've had some good conversations in there so I totally reccomend it.
I think the people who don't read this stuff have a definate advantage. Their gaming experience is pure
