Alenz or Lad
So which one? On the one hand you have the senseless massacres of Piers, on the other, you would be living under a draconian society with little freedom.
And this is a hypothetical either...or, no neither or maybes: you have to decide which one you would rather see dominate. You can take it however you want, from your perspective or those of your characters, but note which perspective you are taking it with on your message explaining your decision.
Note: Remember not to break the new CR rule about discussing events that have happened in the last four days.

This question makes me laugh. For so long I've been wanting to say how fricken MUCH allenz hills reminds me of Lad..but I kept it to myself.
Piers--constantly saying he wants nothing to do with Cantr City
Lad---always said they wanted nothing to do with Naron
But eventually Lad came in and took over Naron. Eventually Piers (will) set up a govt in Cantr city.
lmao
There are many other instances, to me the only reason they differ is this....
Piers is dumb enough to believe someones story---so long as they kiss his behind
Lad on the other hand never gives you a chance to tell your story..you're just dead.

The 4 day rule only pertains to out of character discussion. It says you can't talk on the forum about events that happened in game unless it was 4 day ago or more. Otherwise you might say on the forum, "Oh yeah, that surprise attack force coming towards Quillanoi has an interesting organization. It's lead by Mooseman Johnson, but owes it's full allegiance to Jimmy the Destroyer" or something equally stupid that would upset game balance. The people of Quill would be ready, because even if the players tried their hardest to follow the CR they would still know in the back of their minds.
It has no bearing on what happens in game, only on the forum.
As for the topic.... I've never had characters anywhere near that area, so I really can't form an opinion.

That's the whole point of me mentioning it. I don't want someone citing examples of massive transgressions within the last four days to bolster their argument for or against a given party; thus breaking the CR.

Seems like I am the first vote for Lad. I also have characters on both sides. I've just always liked Lad's cohesiveness and strength in the past.
An interesting side thought I just had is that perhaps why there is a better standard of roleplay in the Empire, is because only people with an understanding of the game and some ability to roleplay tend to survive in the Empire due to its laws and enforcement.

Dont have any characters in Alenz atm, but I still voted for em, even though I have a high ranking guard in Lad. Alenz Hills is one of the best cities in teh game, I dont know what has changed since I was last there. A newbie can get himself armed to the teeth in no time there, theres a lot more freedom.... a lot more. Then again, it would be quite interesting to see a country dominate an entire island, and I only see that happening with Lad, not so much with Alenz.
PS.... has Piers really gone that crazy?

Never been to Alenz Hills or talked to anyone about it so I'm going to side with Lad simply because it is such a great place to be in if you got the power and a lot of stuff happens in Lad (it's where all the action happens so to speak) that I haven't seen discussed elsewhere. I agree the standard of RP in Lad is much higher because you have to be an experienced player to survive there, oh how many times has an obviously new player or experienced suicidal player spawned in Lad only to complain about the laws or say the emperor should get on his knees to worship person X? To many to recall, oh great days in Lad.
Pvt.Muerte! As far as I know the only person to have slipped through the net of Lad. My escape was at least a week ago so no CR breach there matey.

I had a character who escaped Lad. No-one paid any attention to him, so he just walked off. Unfortunately, he decided to leave at about the same time that another person decided to steal some rice and run off. He was nearly killed by someone who thought he was the thief. He got out of that alive, but he died later in the hills.
