HoH I have the solution, MSN Messenger stuffed up for me like that not long ago.

Ensure your clock and date on your computer are correct, exact. MSN will not work if your year is dated back 2 or 3. So ensure everything is correct and it will sign in like magic!

If you can give me the exact error number that comes up when it fails to log in, I can trace it up for you if you like 'cause I'm the MSN Messenger Guru! :D :lol: 8)

Since the problem also killed SSL and IRC, it's unlikely to be a clock problem - current working hypothesis is that her ISP is being cheap and piping the connection through a proxy, or something like that. Last I checked (a few days ago) she was doing fine with, like Phalynx, using CGI:IRC for the Cantr IRC.

Not true, my dumb comp often defaults to 1987 for no reason whatsoever, yet everything still works.

The Proxy error Sho mentioned sounds the most probable explanation, i had one about a month ago which prevented me from joining the chat. A virus scan cured it.
