Road gates (Duplicate Suggestion Rejected)

Road gates at the entrance of locations... they can be picked without a tool to stop people from building them as permanent road blocks at remote locations where someone might be spawned into a permanent trap. They can keep out animals though... maybe the animals can beat them down after awhile to... wooden palisades and such... this will keep... maybe they deteroriate over time and require routine mainenance to to keep obsolete gates from staying for too long in abandoned settlements..

edit again - this will make developed civilizations more secure... undeveloped ones more livable... and forced labor camps more fun!!!

Oh no. With thee turnstile option and coins etc maybe, but otherwise you're stuck for days in sleepy villages waiting for entry. That *will* kill trade.

This has been suggested several times over the past few years ;) ...

I am objecting to this, because you can't really walk around a town easily, as you could in real life. I like the idea of walled cities, but they should be cities *inside* locations, not the whole location as one walled city ...

That sounds equivalent to a building with lots of sub-buildings (extensions and so).

Hmm, yes it's been suggested before but I guess it's a good idea to start a new fresh topic to discuss it once more! :D :D

My personal opinion is that the entire city should not be turned into a building-like structure because it has a wall around it, I'd like to see the ability to knock the wall down.

Problem is, although this can be resolved by leaving the gates open, is that if you make these, and someone with the key dies while gate is locked, hundreds and thousands and millions of poor little newspawns who just want to enter and theive the entire town, can't.

Also if the person with the key dies inside a locked building, and no one knows where, and this occurs in a food-less town, I know it makes RP sense but it's a little unfair if the gate is locked and no one has a crowbar!! It'd actually be a little funny, but hey, we shouldn't laugh. :D XD

I like main idea: we need something to hold animals inside city, to prevent them from traveling out. Maybe add possibility for people to guard exits? For example location has 3 exits: to south, west and north. I decide to help town with animals and i stay on guard on southern exit. Then there will be 1/3 less chance for animals to travel away... They still can travel away througth western and northern exits, but if two more people will decide to guard exits and will choose one western another northern then animals will not travel away from town. Maybe this should be implemented just throught adding button "Guard this exit" near every exit and acting like resting? Or maybe there will be some tool or weapon required for this action like whips? :))

i think he meant to keep animals outside, not inside the town :D

animal domestication: i do agree to this, yet it has already been suggested. And if it's to be done, perhaps only by implementing new buildings such as a barn or a stable. Because I can't help imagining 3 men with spears guarding a path, preventing the little rabbit (or, think about it, a hawk) from leaving the town :P

On the contrary, duplicate threads are very much frowned upon. If you don't use the preexisting thread, CD will make you do it - or would, if it wasn't swimming through a huge backlog of duplicate threads.

Actually, i like this idea. Although, it does have a little bit of displeasing stuff in it.....

I think that we should be able to build somthing to ceep the animals in/out, and we should be able to build somthing to cceep theves in/out, but this is a wee bit troublesome. I think that we just need to be able to build a new building called a "courtyard" or somthing, and build a wall, and you can go on top of the wall, and you can SHOOT PEOPLE!!!(how can that be implumented... OH YEA!!! A PERFICT WINDOW CIND OF THINGY!!!)

So i think that we should revise this a little. As fore walls around an entyer place... I don't like it, unless you can make it so you can still gather food on the outside of the wall thingy. Ithink it should just be a courtyard, and the courtyard has the ability to either hold housings OR farmings(so, one hows wil take up one place to get food.. and the like) and that we could go on top of the wall of the courtyard, and SHOOT PEOPLE!!!

and the animals just go in the pen that we will invent sometime around... next year...
