Perhaps one can develop an immunity to the disease... like chicken pox? You can only get it once. (...and stop scratching)

I know, and I said that it's good to have mechanical struggles as well (also said I wouldn't mind a few more illnesses), but if it gets to the point where mechanical struggles outweigh the other types of struggles, it will just be too overwhelming to be considered fun anymore.

Oh lol that sounds hilarious. Programmers just gotta make sure that it only lasts a few days like in real life, and you can't catch the same epidemic again, so there wouldn't be the problem there is with the sneezes, that when you get cured, your neighbour infects you yet again and it never ends. Speaking of diseases, one of my characters came to a town and moved inside as soon as I checked the character. The time spent among others was about an hour, he didn't pick up or receive anything, didn't whisper to people or be whispered to, nor was there any hitting involved. Yet he's sneezing now.

terrorism maybe, but biological warfare would make quitting cantr an easy thing. I don't think I ever want to see anything on that level in cantr. The odds of something along the lines of a gas being abused by someone are too high...let's just stick with less destructive things...

my two cents.

Well I guess by Biological Warfare I really mean what you consider Terrorism I don't mean making nerve gas and such I mean a few people bad diseased people being used strategically by a great power to conduct a more effective terrorism by your definition, I think, by my terrorism I mean individual non-state actors

And actually, infected objects could be in terrorism, or biological warfair. But seriously, biological warfair Could be just paying a sick person to go here before they die, or els they will never get the cure, or their wife will never get the cure... or some threat like that, and then.. HERE COMES THE ARMY!!!

Not any nerv gas thing YET... but when cantr has, like, a 100,000 caricters, maby, 200,000, I'd say, Yes.

Back in the Middle Ages, they used to throw the corpses of plague victims over the enemy walls with a catapult!

How about things like infected wounds. Certain animal have a small chance of causing infected wounds and perhaps a certain poison can also cause them.

The wound has to be healed using specific drugs to heal. (Not just any healing food.) Would make for interesting quests to find or create a certain resource. And it would create space for specialists that try to have all the herbs and resources to heal diseases.

It must be possible, though perhaps difficult, to make medicine. There should never be an uncurable disease, though it may claim many lives before the medicine is ready. Primitive people will be more vulnerable to disease, true, but is that truly a terrible thing?

I happened to ran into hamamelis in an encyclopedia and it says that cures diarrhea. Since we have hamamelis in Cantr, does that mean we'll get diarrhea too?

*you see a topic creeping slowly from the deepest dungeons*

Here is my contribution:

Sedentary disease

If after two years you:

a) didn't move, train or drag something.
AND
c) didn't finish eating all of something.

You are under risk of suffering a sedentary life disease: when you get tired, you get some damage. Like: damage = rand (tiredness).

It's cured with either:

a) reaching 50% hunger.
b) reaching 50% tiredness with 100% health (that implies eating healthy food).

'nother

Bug plague

When there's a big amount of food of the same kind in a location, there can be a bug plague. The plague decreases the nutritional value of the food. You get a 'It tastes rotten' message and eat 2x the normal amount.

This would never happen where food is scarce, unless some merchant happens to "bring" the plague by docking or driving in with a big cargo of food.
