Seeing land vehicles

Postby avi messika » Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:48 am

I was just thinking...

You know how you can see a boat off in the distance? marked by a black pixel?

Is it feasable to have the same thing with land vehicles? As in, if you have recieved word of an impending attack on your town, you could look and see a group of vehicles riding down the road. Realistically, you would be able to see an incoming army before they arrive in your town to kill everyone.

I have my doubts about this suggestion, but I want to know if it would at all be possible.

Interesting idea... I suppose, logically, it would depend on the terrain as to how far you could see... maybe when the free roaming is introduced. Maybe you'd have to build watchtowers to see them.

I'm sure black dots do appear on the map if there's a vehicle on the road

Either that, or I've been seeing flying boats on the location map...

They don't , and whilst there have been authenticated cases of flying boats it's unlikely . Currently black dots only indicate towns/locations or boats. On some of the older islands (esp. the English speaking ones) the map has black(ish) blobs to indicate towns but these don't always line up with the real town location which is indicated with a single dot - the larger 3 pixel wide blobs are only general indications of possible town location , the real positions are the single pixels.

Whilst not strictly true, you could consider the larger blobs to be hand drawn (and thus potentially inaccurate).

The newer lands don't have these blobs.

This brings me to think of a new tool telescopic sights, allowing you to see further out than with the naked eye
