I remember downloading a Zelda game once, there are these emulator versions you're legally not supposed to have unless you have bought the game but everyone had them anyway, at least my brother and his friends. It took me ages to figure out just how to start a game, and when I did, I was so screwed when that sword ran out of those energy things it was shooting. The monsters were totally kicking my ass in close combat and you know what? If you move off the screen and return later, they are back!! So I started making my own level (there was a level editor). It was fun for a while but then I got bored.

The emulator games are what I was talking about before.
Legally, you're not supposed to use them unless you own the original cartridge, but seeing as the original games are obsolete, I don't really see much harm in playing 'illegal' SNES and NES games (or sega Mega drive / Master system for that matter) on your PC
Illegal downloads of commercially available PC/console games is another thing entirely, and is hardly defendable.

theres a good n64 emulator called pj64, it has all of the good zelda games (ocarina of time and majoras mask on it). The n64 was a great console, haven't played on it for ages though, when I'm feeling nostaligic rather than hunting through my cupboards I play it on my laptop instead, far more practical

I was thinking about buying a console. So what is the real difference between n64 and playstation? Except the games of course. And by the way, Tekken is on both platforms?

n64 uses cartridges, Playstation uses disks. Hehe.

Both the N64 and Playstation are quite dated now:Rusalka wrote:I was thinking about buying a console. So what is the real difference between n64 and playstation? Except the games of course. And by the way, Tekken is on both platforms?
Bonus: You'll get games really cheaply, and they both have some reeally great 'must play' games for them
Cons: There will never be any new games for them, and the games will look visually crap compared to current ones.
It depends what thpe of games you want. If you want to sit around with mates and play multiplayer, the N64 has the best games (Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario Party, Smash Bros. etc.)
If you want some of the best games ever (Final Fanatasy VIII, Resident Evil 1,2 and 3, Grand Theft Auto (original), Gran Turismo, Wipeout) then get a playstation.
Considering how dirt cheap both and N64 and a playstation, and their games, will be, getting both isn't out of the question (you'll be able to get an N64, a playstation, a few controllers and a few games easily for each for less than $100 on ebay I'd reckon)
You could always consider getting a PS2 (soon to be 'old' too) or maybe save foir a PS3 or an Xbox 360. I'd always say the Playstation has always won over the Xbox, but others think differently, so I'd suggest you have a look at the game line-ups first.

I've always preferred the Xbox to the Playstation, personally.
Why? Of all the console games I've played in the past few years, the Xbox games were the best. Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, Psychonauts, and especially Halo and Halo 2 have all kept me entertained for endless hours. No PS2 game has been able to do the same. Maybe that's just a coincidence, but I also love the xbox controller much better than the playstation.
