Oh, yes, I totally agree. We should not do something about thieves - that's for societies to handle - and not even suicidal chars is necessarily bad, but just a total lack of care about characters' lives is sometimes annoying.

Experienced players generally care enough, though, and have grown rather attached to their chars :) ...

Since there are almost no rules (!), but still lots of unwritten/board rules (!) you have to learn IC from experience what is allowed or not OOC (!).

Here, west suggested a Tutorial Island for newbies. Not a bad idea, maybe. Basically, a separate "shard" (to defuse all the "what if they are invaded by actual players" arguments) where newbies can spawn and learn the ropes.

Of course, the problem could also be the existance of areas that you don't want to spawn in. ;)

/Hellzon - find the not-so-serious line.

Mind you, the total lack of care for OTHER characters lives is sometimes annoying too. I don't see a bunch of suggestions to punish serial killers. ;)

/Hellzon - finally got that vented

Make it so newbies can only have up to 5 characters for a certain amount of time. That way they'll have a chance to learn how to do things and also to not feel overwhelmed with so many characters that they just want to kill them off.

notsure :?

A simple solution would be simply be to lock the slot that each character is created in for some arbitrary amount of time. As an example, say the characters 3rd birthday. So if all your interested in is creating spawn and run characters, you would be able to create one on average every 4 days(15 slots, each locked 60 days between spawning). If you lose a character more than 23 years old, you can immediatly spawn another, if you lose a character less than 23 years, you just lose that one slot till what would have been his 23 birthday, and you can spawn in another slot if you have one available...

What if the character cannot be replaced until its dead body is burried?

Many towns have mausoleums for their late lamented worthies. It's a neat idea, and it would be a pity to see it disappear.
