Until you have the resources and the tools or have seen one, you shouldn't be able to know how to build one. So common things like hammers and trowels would still be known by most people because we would have seen them used and built but rare things like cars would not be able to build unless we already have the materials on us and the tools or we see one or see one being built. But such a thing would have to wait for Cantr II 2.0, I would imagine.
Yep, that's what i would like too, well, from a certain tech level on, like indeed, simple tools... Just did'nt want to push it too far, that's something for a completely new topic.
Life is fun. Play naked with Psycho-Pixie.

A cotton gin seperates the cottonseed from the short staple cotton fiber. And a cotton gin was developed and widely used before the America Civil War period.

I think more advanced stuff will be implemented but require programming to do so and there are other things on the top of the priority list like clothes etc... I don't think it will be that bad. From my knowledge there are no rocket launchers being implemented. So you won't have to worry about that yet.
And when I think of Cantr, I think of neither stone, middle, or modern age. It is whatever it is. Someplaces will be stuck in the stone age. Others in a middle age and still more will advanced to technologies beyond the modern age. That should be possible. Eventually there may be guns and you might see battles where one side has guns and the other side has swords. It happened in our day of age. I like it the way it is.

This is a combination idea based on what people have said, so perhaps you should only be able to build advanced items cars or whatever if you have the right materials, tools and a prequisite to whatever it is your trying to make, so you can't go building cars until you can make carrages for horses and you can't make carrages till you the right tools and so on until you reach a basic level of items and tools such as the stone hammer and trowel.
So I'm in favour of keeping cars but adding in a fuel requirement and also temporarily suspending them from being built until technology catches up, as for explaing the existense of cars already *shrugs* thats up to the owner really.

I don't have any problem with cars in game. I would like to see fuel added and maybe require more tools or machines to make a car. In fact, I think there should be more of a tech tree, requiring a lot of high price items to build then next one in line. Then there maybe should be more intermediate vehicles, like carraiges (although I think bikes might suffice) since cars would be harder to make. This all also links to item deterioration because with a larger tech tree people rely more on their machines. Well developed areas become permanently able to churn out high tech items at low cost unless fixing and replacing machines becomes a factor.
DOOM!
