Google is your friend. And that looks a bit like a multiplayer version of Colossal Cave. Only entirely different, I suppose. ;)

The bardic competitions give you the same thing money can, if you win. And that's not the only thing. Mhaldors a hard place to live. I have a Mhaldorian and a Shallamese. They both have their ups and downs.

Neocredits cost money. And regular credits (aside from the ones that you get at each level) are hard to get.
Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

You've got it the wrong way. You get neocredits every five levels. Credits, which can be gotten for doing a service to the website (donating counts as a service, but submitting good artwork, writing help files, etc. can get you credits as well) are utterly unnecesary to playing the game. The lessons you get from leveling up, plus the neocredits, plus the fact that you can buy credits from other players for in game money/items, means you can easily play Achaea without paying a cent, and, unlike Runescape, you get the full game. Sure, you may not be able to have maximum ranks in every skill, but that's a bit of a flat character, isn't it?

"I AM THE UBER ACHAEN! I AM UTTERLY UNSTOPPABLE! I AM BETTER THAN YOU AT EVERYTHING!"

I'd stop playing in the presence of a player who knows every skill to max.

I just started a char in Achaea. So far I've managed to die twice and get the snakes in the noob area to kill me on sight.

But then I realized, I probably don't have time to do Achaea, cantr, WoW, and hold down a full-time job.

He's a funny man, is our Nick.

Make sure it's American. None of your damn funny Canadian money, please

Canadians got banned from Bermuda for using this stuff as 'real' money.

Achaea's something I use to fill in the gaps left by slower paced games (Cantr and now NationStates). If I ever got busy, the fact that I can leave it alone and my account will never expire keeps me away until I've got free time to fill up again.

Don't play it...it's fun for a little while but if you are really into politics play particracy. http://www.particracy.net
Particracy is way better. In Nationstates you can barely do anything and it just becomes really boring after a while.

:D I've played Achaea, Nationstates, Cantr, and Runescape but never Particracy :(

Achaea was fun for a while. I got a character to a level in the lower thirties once and two or three more I brought to the lower twenties, but in order to become really powerful you needed to buy uber-expensive credits and that kind of ended my enthusiasm for it...

I played Runescape for longer...I've got a char with around 1210 total levels in it but I don't really like paying $5 a month for a game when there are so many awesome free games out there so I've pretty much quit it...

I've been playing Nationstates for a couple of years. I've got five nations with populations ranging from 2.1-4.2 billion people each, all within the same region. We had three people playing it for quite a while but the other two have just recently had all their multis deleted :( It's sad. I, myself, only log on often enough to make sure none of my nations get deleted because there's always been so much inactivity within the region. My region is called DeKalb.

Then I've been playing Cantr since the beginning of February. I've also played a lot of other games but those are the only ones that have been mentioned in this post.

I play nation states, it's kind of nice, but it doesn't take a lot of time to play.

I don't play Achaea for the levels. I play for the political/house power. You've gotta have priorities. I'm also stocking up on gold so I can buy credits off of other players for in game money.

Nationstates is a game?

I figured it was just a bunch of forums with a little nation sidetrack bit...

Played it for about 6 months, got bored, and quit. Joined up again recently and am thoroughly enjoying the forum play. Never seen so much organisation in a forum before.

But as a game it becomes annoying after a few days. It's the forum goers that make it decent.

Which reminds me....I must go check those forums.

You might be surprised to know that I've been playing the game for some time now and I have never checked the forums.. Maybe I should do that now.

My friend played it.
