See how much of a resource is being given or taken

Postby Seeker » Wed Feb 22, 2006 11:22 am

Well, I couldn't think of a better title but here's my idea:
In real life you can't see how much but you get the general idea of how much people pick up or give to others. In cantr you have no idea if a person was given 1 gram of rice or 1000 grams of rice. I think the other players should be able to see estimates when resources trade hands, picked up off the ground or used on a project.
For a small amount people could see another person handing over a "Handful" or simply a small amount. I haven't worked out what a medium amount should be called, perhaps just a medium amount. And large amount could be "A lot" or something more creative. To be honest, I don't really care how it's done as long as other players can get the general idea of how much is being traded. For example:

You see a thief pick up a large amount of Iron from the ground.

Nifty idea.
But allow me to rant against any "find out in game" silliness. The actual ranges should be posted somewhere on the wiki (And not by Sho. I mean by RD or ProgD.) if this is implemented. Like:
"A handful" = 1-9 grams
"Some" = 10-99 grams
...and so on (numbers are taken out of my behind, of course).

so I like this idea, it could be good for things like knowing if somebody is a thief or just trying to feed themselves.

Resources and programming can't do everything. If we give out the information it's up to you guys to put it in the Wiki. :wink:

I like it too, people notice everything else around them, why not that?

P.S. Cantryjczyk, should you really be using that pic of Belkar? At least stick a link to OOTS in your sig if you're using the art...

See Sho's rant. ;) I could live with it being an infodump on the forums, but why do the extra step?
My main point was that what numbers the words correspond to should be known, anyway...

/Hellzon - unclear
