CRB question

Postby deadboy » Wed Feb 15, 2006 12:35 pm

when somebody dies on your screen their name goes white on everything that they have done yes?

Is it a CRB to tell somebody that somebody is dead when you cannot see them but you know they are dead because their name is white?

If the body is visible on the ground then may be, if not then there is nothing to suppose your character know about the death.

I'd recommend you don't have your characters act on that infomation.
Its what I try to do . Others may have different opinions .

I have been in this situation because when travelling there is no body, the person disaapears and the name is no longer clickable.
On that occaision there was a discussion about ghosts taking people and animals eating people alive but we generally settled on the explanation that they had died and the animals had dragged the body away. I suppose it could be CRB as noone saw them die - If it were not for the change in the name we would have assumed perhaps that they could have moved further down the path.

You should read my chars work on the Cantrian senses... using the death sense is no more a CRB than using the age sense, in my opinion.

You can see the people on the boat? One's disappeared. It's reasonable to assume he's died, he couldn't go anywhere.

No. He means the person had spoken or interacted when on land and it is still possible to see the event on the events page. But, then they left and died. You can tell they died because the name is white and "unclickable" on the events page.

I think what tiddy ogg means is that if the boat undocked just recently, it's logical that you could still see the people in the distance - thus if one falls down and doesn't get up, it's most likely the person is dead.

Dead , really ? surely its more logical they are sleeping or just lying down , or behind the pile of potatoes .

But as you can't see the crew of a boat in Cantr after it's undocked I think you have no evidence to say they are dead. You as the player may but it would be wrong for your character to act that way.

Duh? Yes, I was assuming the boat was docked. Colours mean nothing to me, so I'll retire from the discussion. *grin*

I've always thought that Cantarians have some sort of aura surrounding the very recent memory of people encountered. If they die soon after being seen the memory is disrupted.

It has always been my opinion that the "death sense" is just one of those eccentricities that sets Cantrians apart from humans. It's hard-coded into the game, so it cannot be expected that players won't use it.

Now that I'm an aspirant, am I still allowed to give opinons without clearing them with the PD?

I like this one

The way I see it, is that it's nigh impossible to police this sort of thing - people using game mechanics that might not be 'realistic' - and I'm not sure it would even be worth trying to police - there's much more worse ways of cheating.

So, I prefer imaginative, in-game explanation of how it happens to be that your character knows someone is dead (or any other strange game mechanic). This allows for it's use (which will happen anyway) in a more natural way.

As long as no one ever says 'so and so muct be dead 'cos their name's in white' in game...
