Thinking of buying diamonds for your Valentine?

Did somebody die for that diamond?
Was slave labour used?
Was child labour used?
Have the profits gone to war lords?

I only like diamonds taken from the bowels of the Doryiskom mountain region. They are sure to involve death and starvation.

I was tempted to post a 'buy nothing valentine's day' thread - like the buy nothing at christmas one - but I'd start to sound like more of a scratched vinyl than I do...

My boyfriend took me out to a steakhouse for dinner and bought me seasons 3 and 4 of CSI for my early Valentines day gift - something I actually wanted.

Besides I have plenty of rings.

As for diamonds - don't really care for them. I much prefer sapphires or rubies.

You just cannot beat a nice ruby or an emerald. Just the word ruby is great.

CSI!!! The Valentine's Day gift that keeps on giving, in the form of autopsies and completely awesome puns from Grissom. I envy you. :x

Emerald is better ;) And so is sapphire... But, diamonds are pretty too... anything sparkly and set in silver is pretty... Ohh and the claddagh link was cool.. I thought about getting a claddagh ring before, only.. less diamondy and more celtic and traditional... (*edit* that particular one is missing the crown though...)

But, as far as the day goes... too many make too much of it... it's really just another day.. no more meaningful than the day before or after...

An 'I love you' makes any day special, no matter where it comes from... friends, family, your special someone...

Getting chocolates or teddy bears or an 'I love you' written in the sky actually would seem much less meaningful to me than hearing it on a normal day from someone special...

I don't understand the appeal of 'sexy underwear' / lingerie. As far as I'm concerned, whatever it is, I just want to take it off...
