Now, how shall I get some of my characters killed of, so I can play in the Swedish area?

By the way...will all the letters in the Swedish alphabet work in Cantr?

I hope so :) ...

Because the flow of new Swedish players goes so fast, I am right now working like crazy to set up a good place for them to create a Swedish starting location ;) ...

Don't try too hard to get characters killed, though ... if you really, really, really need an additional character, for example because I need someone with experience in the Swedish region, we can always create another character ...

Don't worry, I'm too much of an RPG fanatic to have them killed off in a bad manner :)

But I would really like to be able to have a character in the Swedish location, so if there is a way to fix it would be great!
Perhaps I could select one of them and you can arrange so he/she is struck by a fatal disease or the wrath of the god Jos :D

Is there any way to place them on or near the dutch island? I've travelled about anywere and i think 3 spawning locations is just not enough. But then, mabe i haven't seen all? And I think the dutch and the swedes have a lot in common.

I don't understand - what do the three spawning locations have to do with the Swedes?

And indeed, you haven't seen all :D ...

And whether the Swedes are close to the Dutch or not, is secret :) ...

We now have 43 Swedish players :) ... I think it's one of the best advertisements ever :) ... Well, there are some other good ones, but still. It's of course a temporary influx, but with the Dutch it was noticable that once there were a few Dutch players, more kept coming, and still there is a slow but steady influx of new Dutch players. I hope the same will happen with the Swedes.

43 player! 43 times 15 equals..........................645 characters. Jos, are you sure that that land is enough for the Swedish players? If most of them stick with and even create half the number of characters that would still be a whole lot.

I meant that i must have seen almost all locations now and only found 3 major locations. A bigger island would be nice. To place the swedes there was just a suggestion. I did't expect an answer anyway.

Are there any numbers on how many % of the people that registered actually stay for more then lets say, 3 months? ( I love statistics).

No, that statistic I don't have :) ...

I do now other things, though, like age distribution of characters (24% is 20 and only .5% 50 or older). Or distribution of language groups (90% English, 6% Dutch, etc. - characters, that is). Or we can see how long current players are subscribed - but don't have those stats ready.

We used to have some measure of how many 'active' players we had, instead of just players, but that required too much recording of activity, which slowed down the server too much.

Mutant.nu is the homepage for a Swedish RPG game, so they should all be pretty great RP:ers :D

I just hope they stay, and that they spread the word to their friends :)

Yeah. I checked the members of the forums and thought: why not PM the newest member on the board and welcome him. Because he is a Swede I thought he was from the Whoa site but it turned out to be from the mutant game...

Anyway, he really likes it...

Read your post on that forum BTW... (well, tried to). Seems that most responses were quite positive, if somewhat confused. The food thing right? :D

And who posted on the Hattrick Site? Quite a number of new players give it as their link to Cantr... Funny thing is, the most succesful ads seem to be posted on non computer non RPG sites.

Oh, By the way, guess what our newest board member studies?

Yeah, I dropped the ad on hattrick.org but it I'm a little worried about some of them...the ones who have written in the topic there doesn't seem to get the idea of the game, and especially not the Capital Rule.
I will inform them now...

The only complaint so far is about the game being so confusing in terms of newbies not knowing what to do...but most people seem to understand that it is made that way on purpose.

Still I think that a few friendly pointers in a FAQ wouldn't be bad.
Like how to farm for food and so on, so that they at least can get started...in that FAQ you could desribe that they must find out the more advanced stuff by asking IC.

one from ht :P

Yeppers, I'm from HT, however I think I got my head around the capital rule. However, I've only played like half a day, but am feeling quite confused: I'm sure it'd go faster if one cooperated, but I don't feel that I get much connection done with other players. I mean, bloody hell, building Rome all by oneself would probably take nearly half a lifetime :O :P

ps, I could give a hand with translation, but already made that offer through email... so why do I mention it again? I'm tired :P ds

Well, that would be me... One of my characters have already found a community where the basic laws are in need of an oversight... You can be sure I'll get to work on that as soon as I am a respected member of society! :P

Anyway, it was a really nice thing to welcome me in a PM. I just assumed you did that to all the newbies.

Can't stay, I'll have to back to Cantr to harvest some carrots... (Thanks to the administrators for limiting the time btw, otherwise my pol-sci thesis would be ruined! )
