The Minbari

Political Entity-
Minbari Federation

Homeworld-
Minbar. The 7th planet from their star, Minbar is one-fourth covered by the north polar ice cap. Minbar has very rich crystalline deposits, and some cities are carved right from the crystal.

Ruler-
Vacant, Grey Council in absence.

First Contact-
2247. First contact made by the E.A.S. Prometheus and other ships. Took the Minbari gesture of honor of having gun ports open to be an aggressive posture, when the Prometheus opened fire, killing Dukhat and starting the Earth-Minbari War.

Appearance-
Minbari appear as typical humanoids. The most striking feature is the external head bone, which runs from the sides of the head around the back. Minbari do not have hair on the tops of their heads, but occasionally have facial hair. Minbari ears are smaller than a human's, less protruding, and lower, towards the neck, below the head bone.

Political Structure-
The Minbari are divided into three castes - Warrior, Religious, and Worker, each further divided into clans. The Warrior and Religious castes are the most vocal, and without the Grey Council would likely war with each other for control of Minbar.

No, not really but they do have a conclict-

The Shadows believe that the universe benefits from chaos and disorder, allowing stronger races develop.

Miscellaneous-
"Shadows" is just a term used by the other races. Their true name is 10,000 characters long and is unpronouncible by humans.

The Vorlons appear to be working as a "parent" race to the younger races, even manipulating them genetically. They seem to prefer order

Miscellaneous-
True appearance is unknown. Vorlons only appear in public wearing "encounter suits", when they appear at all, which is rare. It is believed that Vorlons have the ability to appear to a viewer as an angelic being from the viewer's own belief system.

So in other words, the Shadows and Vorlons fought for thousands of years over their view of how the galaxy should be run. The Vorlons believed evolution of the 'younger' races relies on order and the Shadows believe that if the 'younger' races fight each other, that the weak will die and the stong will continue and grow stonger- kind of like an ant hill system.
