Hey, lions run from me. :D

But yes, I would like to see the random dying begin at 80 or so, if at all. But I want at least one year of -You are feeling weak- Or something similar. Give me time to get back home and get my keys situated. Even when Lincoln was shot he had some days to organize, and no one ran in and stole his top hat and key to the white house.

Or if skills can degenerate first, do that. But give me until at least 80.

No, 80 is too young. There are people already in their eighties and some people plan on getting to 90s. We could start getting weak at 80.

Are you sure you wouldn't mind a few people in their 100s?

Yes, I would like to see that. In fact, I believe in a much higher life span into the 120s or so. According to some Bibical beliefs, people lived much longer due to a stronger ozone, with skin cancer and etc being nonexistant. The desert might have been quite mild if the sun didn't boil down on it, letting folks live comforably.

While many others believed that in midieval times the average life span was to your 40's.

I think your life span should be on how well you live your life... if all you eat is meat then you die earlier of vitamin deficiancy, if all you eat is potatoes you have got too little iron etc, and so your life span goes down, also if you fight and get damaged often it could have an effect on life span, things like that

There was better record-keeping then. And a plague. And poor societal structure with inadequate health, sanitation, nutrition, and medical practices.

I think there should be a higher plane. Anyone that dies of old age gets respawned on an island in the sky with all the resources available to them. Then they can visit the living in dreams and fuzzy radio static.

Actually in biblical times the numbers could be wrong. I'm sick of that ozone stuff it barely affects anything. And medieval times are very far away from biblical times.
And we could just have our characters live forever, you might want to give newspawns a chance but that isn't how it is in real life. I like the food and other things idea but that would be too hard. It's fun to try to rebel a guy who's ruled for hundreds of years.

lol, Read "The Inheritance".

Edit: lol, Bowser that'd be cool but why have your items where they can't be used? Unless we can hand them to people as ghosts.

I don't see why we shouldn't just have what we have in real life - characters are healthy till around 70, after which they grow weaker and eventually die over a period of a couple of decades, with accelerating decline and visible symptoms near the end - of course, the age thresholds here are very flexible, and some provision could be made for characters who are already very old.

A couple of decades is far more than enough for a character to get serious about the problem of succession, and the weakness would not be a huge issue - generally a character who gets to their old age doesn't need to do so much work on their own any more.

The various "afterlife" ideas are nice, but we have limited resources in terms of server power, which is not actually a huge issue, considering how few characters are going to get to this stage, but also in terms of development time - is this really worth the man-hours it would take to make the necessary programming changes?

That's my point. People live short or long life spans depending on the diseases they have over thier life time.

And at this point, Cantr has none.

And to make a point it helps to make it yourself rather than agree on someone's rebutal.

Well if you had a better rebutal I wouldn't have to agree.

Yes, that would be best. By 80 you should have made enough of an impact that there are people around willing to assist you as you do less and less for yourself, or else be paid out of your own private stash. Then sometime around your mid nineties you should become subject to chances of terminal diseases, chances increasing over time, and then after a suitable time for roleplay and saying goodbye your charrie should pass away. Just perhaps you could prolong your life by lying all day in a cot. Would an ancient and dying Mary Williams survive lying in a cot in the middle of Seatown Forest, and otherwise only move around by being dragged? Now that would be a roleplay challenge! :D

Yeah, we would need to sleep more and that kind of stuff. I don't know about the dragging around part though. Can they get a wheel chair? Oh, the walking stick! That'll help. I just don't want to die though.
