Coramon, how old is your oldest char, just out of curiosity?

I don't know. Seems to me like you guys are wanting an OOC solution to an IC problem. If you're that eager for power why can't you make them step aside?

Anyway, the elderly are already very susceptible to a deadly disease. It's called the sleeping sickness.

However, if the powers that be are already set on killing off the tiny percentage of characters who make it past their fifties, I'd at least like to request a compromise besides the '60-120 random death' idea. Sixty is much, much too young. If nothing else, how about death between the ages of 100 and 120, with a warning to the player a year in advance? Even something as simple as a daily message of, "You're beginning to feel alarmingly weak," would be helpful.

That way they can start to get used to the idea of losing their beloved character that they dedicated over five RL years to, as well as give the char time to make any last minute preparations. (Like giving their keys to a trusted person so one of Coramon's newspawns doesn't snatch them up and kill everybody... :P)

People will trust a man with no special clothes in his thirties to a certain extent. At the least, they'll respect him (assuming he actually does something, and doesnt' just eat carrots, never speaking). That's not true with a man in his twenties. Let's say a man in his twenties, with no special clothes or equipment, announces that he is the incredibly powerful leader of some military town. People laugh and think "He's just a newspawn!" Same way people treat teenagers, doesn't matter how mature you actually are, if you're a teenager, you aren't trusted. Of course, it's not simple for a teenager to get an army anyway, these days, but you get the point.

There is a growth period in Cantr. It's from age 20-21. Some people don't have it. Some people have it forever. Most have it from 20-21.

I didn't mean it literally. God, you people take stuff way to seriously. I just meant its a good thing. 1/2 the time I don't know what I'm saying.

We take what people write seriously because we have nothing else to judge them by. If you don't know what you're saying, don't say it.

Ok then lets just have two ages 20 and 21. Can't see the point of the others.

Judgement should be made on the way people are not their age and in a moral sense not their clothes (but that happens in real life).

And considering no one has even reached 100 yet 120 is far to long a life. People should die between 70 and 100. With the rare possibility they might die before or after that period.

How come the young ones never seem to respect the old? Sure the oldies can be a pain in the arse but they have the power to lock you up or to saber you or if not, at least they're likely to have a friend who has one of the possibilities listed. And you might get far by being nice but no, everyone must try their own wings and make their own bone tools from the scratch.

Erm, because the 'old people' don't respect them. Having a sabre is more likely to gain disrespect than respect. Especially if you expect that beacuase you have one that means you should get respect.

Age is an issue in cantr which is totally exagurated when compared to real life. Especially so when in Cantr, age is just a statistic.

Why would newspawns deserve respect? Most of them are troublemakers, no fit for living at all. Harsh threatment is merely for the benefit of the people, it makes the misfits die young and keeps them from causing more trouble.

You don't know jack shit about me, turnip. And even if I did, that wouldn't mean that all my characters thought the same way, or in the same extent.

I'm not sure you'll find any English person, or anyone into football for that matter, who finds that funny.
