What does FOIG mean? I hate internet slang sometimes.

I agree. With weapons this isn't very dificult - just make one and try on someone or something or simple check on the list in menu.
Not all internal information from game engine should be shared...
With vehicles and roads this is diferent problem because of mysterious alghoritms

FOIG removal was made by Jos, it's not like it's actually practiced as he had said it would be. Not like he owns and operates the game or anything.
What's important is that the RD has continuously denied to conform to this rule. And that's all they need to do for it effectively not exist. I guess they like being the only ones to have such knowledge.

I don't think what the standard damage a weapon does should be something that should be published. Because then it becomes a numbers game for many players in game. What number damage a weapon averages should not be a factor in a character's motive and that is what would become if they were made known.

Sorry, that makes no sense. The only motive for a character to make a weapon is to create damage to animals or people. So they will produce the most powerful weapon they possibly can.
To not know what weapon is most powerful is silly. There are rare occasions where a character might make a weapon for costume or ritualisic reasons. If that's the case, they'll make that weapon whether or not they are the most powerful.
The Find Out in Game rule was eliminated. Welcome to the modern Cantr.

That rule only affected how things were built not hidden things that you would never know like game mechanics and you can find out what weapon is most powerful by researching and studying weapons via your character in game.
And that does make sense in the fact that then this game becomes like every other MMORPG or MUDD where everything becomes a number games. Obviously you guys are all up in arms because you currently do not know what the most powerful weapon which means that no one in Cantr has discovered it yet. Because otherwise if I do tell you guys then it will be like the crowbar where no one knew what it did until someone went online and blattered it to the whole community and by the next hour there were more crowbar project than anyone could count which is the same exact thing here. So it would change your character's motive (who believes the most powerful weapon is the crossbow) into doing something else because of an out of character reason so it would still be a Capital Rule Breach anyways. The find out in game rule may have been abolished but as far as I know the rest of Capital Rule applies and last I check, changing your character motive from one thing to another is still a breach.
Anyways, the weapons' average damage is a game mechanic and until Jos wishes to release that information it will not be publically known. It's not like knowing what a machine can make or what you need to build a tool.

What players have an advantage? If your playing this game with what your characters' know and what they would do then there shouldn't be any problems anyways.
What you are claiming is that we staff members abuse our power and thus to make the game fair everyone needs to know the same thing. I do not hold to that philosophy. None of my characters ever had an advantage over other characters because of what I know as a player and being a staff member.

But don't characters basically know how powerful crossbows are because the player knows?
I don't know, maybe I'm not RPing right, but if I see someone with a crossbow I know not to mess with them, my char doesn't have to get hit first or watch somebody else get killed to know they're dangerous.
Anyway, on a kind of similar topic, what I'd really like to know is how much damage some of the weapons that I never see used like halbers and ironshod billy clubs do...the 'find out in game' seems impossible in that case, even rich characters aren't going to throw away iron and steel on all these things that might be useless, so they just wind up making something boring like a saber instead.
P.S. What's the point of a regular billy club? It takes a knife to carve and it seems to do the same amount of damage, so you might as well save your wood and just keep hunting with the knife.
