I would include Mary Black, Gary Drenth, Anderton Cale, and El Adan.
One of John's biggest heroes was Taowyn, but not in the usual sense of sword.
One of Thomas' biggest heroes was Sestar Gartaff, and of course, Hawthorne, when he was Emperor. And also Alexi Romanov, although I don't think any my characters met Cliff's.

Real heroes aren't remembered. They died for good, not glory.
This should be 'topic for people who had good intentions and survived, and managed to milk their image enough to make them look like heroes'
For instance, Nite, you mentioned some of the Magnificent 7. I would be more likely to mention the dead ones than the alive ones. That's what makes them heroes.

I think the "real heroes are those who lost all" argument is somewhat cliched.
However, I don't disagree.
@RKL:
I think you have to remember that when you become powerful enough, you will both be loathed and loved. It is a measure of power. If somebody somewhere doesn't want you dead, then you're probably a nobody. Hell, even Gandhi was assassinated.

Matthias Zahlmann.
Stood up for what he believed in right in the face of the Stone Knights, who could massacre his entire town. Pretty heroic.
