Pointing at projects
This may indeed have been suggested before, or something like it, but you know how that goes. The search gurus can go oldbie on me if so.
I don't really have a solid idea how something like this could be done, but it would simplify so much of the communication in cantr. We all say things like "Help me with this carrot project", "That's the private company harvester you idiot, the other one is for the town's use!", and "Work on that bone knife project I started for you". It's still hard, even with the searchable project page, to find the right project.
You newbs who never saw it different, you don't know the heaven you have now. It used to be just like searching with a blank box, everytime you looked at the project page, you saw every project ever started in that location, all the time. The new searchable page is just a godsend. Thank you ProgD!
What if there was a link on the project page to "point" at a project?
You see a man in his twenties pointing at the Manufacturing a cotton sash project.
The pointing would show on the events page, and the link would take you to the project info page where you could join it, cancel it, or add materials to it. This might take some work, I dunno, I'm not on ProgD, but I do know this would be a great way to get things communicated and done, just get everyone organised better everywhere.

Anything is possible , but there are two related suggestons which have been accepted and are relatively easier to implement
These are
1) Ability to join a project from the detailed project infomation screen
2) The "P" by characters which currently mean help this person drag something/someone to be changed to join the person's current project
(or dragging action)
When these are implemented is there still an important need to point to projects (I know there may still be some need but is it really necessary ? )
Secondly if this was implemented I'm assuming the project pointed at will be be dispalyed as a link in the events page. In which case should the link display the general project summary (i.e. row of 2 to 5 buttons and project name) or the full project info page ?

Full info page. Which should also get all buttons. And I like this suggestion

Yes I definitely think you should do that, I thought that was what it was for when I first started playing and it looked like a bug or something when it didn't work.

I think it might still be useful if there are a lot of projects and you want to point out a particular project you are not working on at the moment. Of course I can't imagine an example on the spot!
As for how it would pop up on the events page, I would say it should just look like:
999-9: You see Big Boss Man point at project: picking cotton.
This link should be identical to the one displayed on the activities page, so that the character could then click on the project, see the details, then join it from that menu. Bada-boom bada-bing, you're workin' on the chain gang.

Or maybe something like,
999-9: You see Boss Man pointing at Joe working on project picking cotton.
(Or for multiple people).
999-9: You see Boss Man pointing at Joe, Sam, and Keith, working on project picking cotton.

I don't know about "pointing at group of people working on project", that seems a bit overboard. Just pointing at projects themselves should be good enough, I think.
It is, however, I first came to know it as an ingredient for Zingers, the kissing cousin of Twinkies.
