Do the barons still call each other different letters? My char probably wont find out because he was taken away before the he could fight the barons. Good thing too, he probably wouldn't have survived. Actually, I'm curious to see if the refugees from Blaman forest would survive...

My guess is absolutely. There were several reasons for that. First, it meant that the taker of the new name has "killed" his or her own self and has become a Baron.

Secondly, it was crucial in the early success because it confused the early people in the region. Baron F had told a town that he wanted to kill their leader Zeroraven. But, the town knew Baron F as Fritter. Baron F made a deal with Zeroraven without Zero realizing that Baron F was Fritter. When Zero came to their hideout he was locked up and killed. This wouldn't have been pulled off if an alias hadn't been used.

Thirdly, we suspect it was confusing to the towns that were plundered. The strategy for all towns was determined in advance based on what keys we had aqcuired and what kind of maps we had. For example, it was amazing how people would always take inventory in their building and leave the lock number in the note. We would then know we had a key to that building and it would serve as a prison or a fortress. Each person was assigned a task before we entered a town. Then the leader of that attack (usually the spy that had spent days in the town to see what people went into what building and what weapons and protection they had) would simply call out a letter for them to begin their task. It was also a code word for "help me drag" or "join on this lock picking/building" etc.

Deception was the primary tool of success...I suspect it still is.

I want to nominate Robie Elgas. He hasn't had a chance to start killing people yet, but he creeps me out and with all of his speeches basically reminds me of a wannabe Hitler in the making. Er, I guess that's a good thing... :D

Robie...my character admired him at first, it seemed like there was a quiet takeover of power in the Forest (tis' in the Forest, right?) but then his girlfriend mentioned something about his creepiness...

Who do you play in that area, Marian?

It's easy but you have to have people that you can rely on to be awake and to scout ahead. A plan for a raid usually took more than a year.

Well considering this topic is about alive characters, and I don't have any, I'm glad to have at least got one mention.

Those were good days Nick. At least our two characters were awake, we did a bit of damage. The only reason I couldnt keep you from getting caught was because we warped to the other side of the island when you went to attack.

But we had good times in Pok.

Gotta love losing your best character of all time to a bug.
