Since some of us lament our old characters why not have a I was thread as well.

I was a General of the Imperial Guard of the Alexian Empire
I was the President of Quillanoi, founder of the library in Quillanoi, slayer of Richard Cromwell, journalist in Quillanoi
I was a traveler and mapmaker from Pok
I was a spy for the First Krif Empire, spy for the Smoke Jaguars (aka the Alliance), traitor to the Smoke Jaguars, spy for Seatown Forest, a Seatown Warrior, a Protector of the Forest, a clothing manufacturer, a metal manufacturer
I was the Commander of Arms of the Drojf Republic, Vice President of the Drojf Republic
I was a simple wheat farmer in Cantr City
I was the founder of the DoUrden Estates and DoUrden Mercenary Company, a thief in Cantr City
I was Siom Sheriff Deputy Commander
I was on the Second Council of Tircqi, a businessman, creator of the Councilhead
I was the personal bodyguard of Lord Tony Stewart, a woodsman, a Praetorian Guard
I was a steelworker in Krif
I was the founder of the Silver Knights of Southern Moku, devout of the Unnamed Ones
I was a ship's captain of the Hercva & Sawyer on Karnon Island

Since 'was' is only past tense, I get to do a few which are still alive:

I was credited for unifying the known world, as Cantr's most famous Encyclopediaist, Mapmaker, and Explorer (ret. 1300), after leaving my career as a Lad Imperial Guard Commander (ret. 800).
I was the Leader of the Rangers and a Ranger for fourty continuous years of service, epitomizing, blending, and educating to the young'uns the spirit of the Seatown Forest Warriors, the Magnificent Seven, the MacGregors...although never was an official part of those groups, except as an 'Inner Circle' member of Seatown Forest in Maily's reign. (ret. 1421)

And of course the dead'uns:

I was a Ranger, described in one of Taowyn's songs.
I was a Judge, murdered by a massacre of old (when all the things of today weren't implemented), after escaping from the Lad Empire under a new alias, "Daniel <b>Malarky</B>".
I was a Lad Imperial Guard Sergeant, dying on distant shores after a futile search for the killers of my leaders, the Dangles of Sjoftich.
I was a Protectoress of Zuzi and Papaya Connoisseur, until my untimely rise from the sea in the passion of my Empress.
I was an Adventurer, Refugee Smuggler (from Lad's Naron ports), Seducer (thanks for reminding me, Surly), Pirate, Explorer, and Colonist.
I was a Constitutionalist, scribing a town's constitution before my suicide of desperation, after working most of my life in a shop and contracting a very serious lung disease.
I was a note thief. Woot.

I was a Seatown Forest Postman, driven to hate my home and its cruel leadership and starved myself in the town to burden them with having to bury my corpse

I was the second in command of the Crew, and for a short while led the Crew after Bandit's death. I killed many, and hopefully left behind a small token in my last town. I was killed in my sleep, trying to get my entire Crew out of a hostile town safely.

I was the founder and director of a growing company, organising resource gathering in several missions, suffering from living in an area with too little labour.
I was an innocent girl travelling with her boyfriend.
I was a cotton spinner, who lost her sweet mute boss.
I was a novice in the Order of the Rose, waiting for promotion, with plans of becoming big and powerful in a new colony, which never materialized.
I was an employee of a boring cycle factory, unsure what to do in life.
I was a mean woman, first trying to fool people in joining a church and then stealing a nice sabre. Never got to anything interesting.
I was an innocent prisoner in a very newspawn-unfriendly town.
I was a journalist, post office manager, library chair, President, Councillor, author of the constitution, banker in Quillanoi.
I was an old lady in a quiet coastal town, while briefly running the inn in Quillanoi.
I was a nice, wise, old lady baking bread in Vryallnuets.
I thought I was going to become a traveller, no a scientist, a historian? Ah, never mind.
I was a noble man who wanted to become an honourable soldier. But there were only people interested in farming. So I ended up with a crooked general and an indecisive king, where I tried to smoothtalk myself into a good position. I fled with a group and became a Naron Guard.
I was an ambitious, but shortlived businessman in Dorian.
I was a captain working for Cerai Inc who sailed the sees for many years and made the first maps with accurate proportions (I think).
I was a commander of the external unit of the Karnon Imperial Army, with ambitious plans to become ever more powerful, but handicapped by being send abroad all the time. Attempted to set up a private intelligence service, which never materialised.
I was a soldier in Blojt.
I was a criminal with ambitious plans, who never got further than illegally building a cottage in Karnon Forest, because nobody really noticed.
I was going to become a historian, but never lived to do so.
I died due to lack of food in the spawning area.
I was a loyal soldier in the Ladvicitavoi Empire, anxiously trying to get into the navy, but nobody could tell him there was a navy, and all his life he was told to wait just a little longer, they were just talking about it, but ... He died in an attempt to reach Sjoftich during the DoUrden attacks on the empire, at the last moment.
I was a lonely man, travelling through a forest, eventually building a little house.
I was a prince in a small town, but died from boredom.
I was a trader and swindler, producing the local currency and enriching myself doing so.
I was a shortlived member of the boring community of Blaman, with interesting socialist plans that never materialised.
I was a lonely man, surrounded by zillions of dangerous animals, and eventually killed.
I was ... I don't remember!
I was a farmer, who farmed, and farmed, and ...
I was a lonely man surrounded by scarabs and eventually killed.
I was a powerful and ambitious town leader, only to be killed by a cow!
I was a company director, mayor, prisoner, and eventually treator in Tircqi. Died from guilt.
I was a shortlived, failed criminal.

To write the above list, I had to peak in my players database account ... That list actually doesn't contain the oldest characters. Those I forgot most about anyway. Probably along the lines of:

I was a prominent member of my town, Cantr City, but ...
I was a lonely man in Knatr who got lost in the Knatr Mountains, after his ignorance killed another man.
I was a dictator in Quillanoi while everybody thought I was a democratic president. I never got to capture the surrounding towns despite great plans, but introduced the first currency in Cantr.
I was a loyal soldier and later military leader in Quillanoi.
I was a banker with ambitions of founding a car factory in Quillanoi.

Note that I often start characters to check out new areas or language groups, and ended up removing them after all. So the long list is, only to some extent, due to admin privileges. That, and the fact that I sometimes decide to really stop, and then miss Cantr and start again, like recently.

And so many chars with big dreams that never get anywhere! Often either due to spawning in a very unfavourite area, due to simply very bad luck, due to lack of skill (as player), or due to lack of time to play properly.

I was a Ladvicitavoi workshop slave who led an escape and got killed by Alenz Hills.

I was a boring blacksmith and trader in Brunoi.

I was a boring blacksmith in Vrayllnuets Hills (south) who decided to liven things up by hiring some goons to sack the town, and got betrayed by said goons.

I was a salvager of ghost ships in Longinazy who got killed by pirates he tried to sell food to.

I was a pirate who starved to death when he fell asleep in Shortinazy.

I was the head of the Mac Gregor workshop, who never left Krif Hills (north) at any time during his last 30 years. Didn't do a whole lot else, either.

I was a mid-level member of TBR who died of the sleeping sickness right around when the tribe left Karnon Forest.

I was a trader who left his home town with his friends and got back to find it overrun with pirates. One of my friends was killed and another went all mad, I died still on the boat i came in.

I was the partner of a crewman who spent an unusually long time on another mans boat. Died of boredom.

I was starting me own iron works, then i got preoccupied and started building a town, then the bears got me....

by the way i thought starving one of your characters to death was a rule breach?
