It's weakness is that it doesn't makes sense that they have no memory of their life before they turn 20.

Actually, I see that as a good thing. Can you imagine the long, detailed backstories some people would insist their characters had? And how horribly they'd clash with what had actually happened in that town? Not to mention that they'd still run into the problem of where they came from in the first place. I can just see it now, "My parents were killed by the leader of this town soon after I was born, so now I hate all authority and want to overthrow the government."

Most of my characters end up that way without a backstory.

Role playing praise for Snadert. For consistantly being well played, original, never breaking character, and for actually creeping me out a few times. From beginning to end, he always managed to beat whatever he was up against, with a bit of help. He'd still be around it it wasn't for a bit more help.

Quite the character, well put together, had a great time killing my minutes on him. He'll be missed, even with no one to miss him.

Resist the peace.

Well, in my opinion, my characters would consider them just as insane as suicidal newspawns and should be locked in soon-to-be mental instuitions for others to point and laugh at. Yay mental instuitions! :D

Seriously, do I have to repeat myself again? It's nonsense to see a guy living seconds after his origin and say, "Hello, my parents are dead and I'm suffering long bouts of depression. Could you please help me before I kill myself?" Following this theory is equilavent to that newspawn in Baak Hills West, considering herself a fairy from a magical kingdom (see thread "Fairy from a Magical Kingdom?" in Capital Rule Breaches). In fact, backstories can also make excuses for those darn annoying and suicidal newspawns. Suicidal young thief: "Hey, don't blame me. Blame my darn parents who stripped me of my clothes and leave me out here to starve."

Meh, sorry, but I really, really hate that theory. I guess I'll eventually make a new thread out of these posts.

In other news... Well, I don't know who I shall praise except John Locke, who I know is very known throughout the in-game world, but still, I haven't mentioned him. I'm sure lots of other people know why he should be praised, so nothing more I'll say.

He'll be forgotten soon enough, like everything else. Thankfully, having the first Cantr nuclear family may have postponed oblivion.

Rannveig Andoe and Owen, thank you for helping some life stay in your location. It was getting sad to see that place waste away again. :D

I have another that mixes in with the off topicness of the past posts.
There was a lady (in her twenties) that astounded me the other day by solving the age old question "where do we come from?"
when she spawned her first words were

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *plop* Uh, hi, could someone tell me where I am? I just sort of fell out of the sky..."

then later

"what do you mean, I have to eat? why can't I eat this wood?"

Her name slips my mind but whoever you are, Kudos to you for ending my quest of origin.

 Was that Mea-gean from Puk? I think that spawning is topped only by Bessie Rae Monaghan appearing in Lake Village, uncurling from a fetal position on the ground like a clam shell opening and shouting "Wheeeee! I'm naked!!!"

Speaking of Lake Village, I was suddenly quite impressed by Pietr. He rather annoyed me at first, but I just noticed his consistency. I was also impressed that he is one of the few Cantrians that seem to use a house like a normal person, often going inside and apparently working on night chores, then coming out to farm in the day. Sorry if that is too much in game info, but it struck me as rather unique and I applaud the player for it. :D

Aye, Pietr is pretty good.

Maybe she'd read the comic in the last webzine.

Not that that comic had any impact after that photo shop flurry or MS paint master piece, but maybe someone liked the joke ...
Reality was never my strong point.

Lots of my charachters try to solve this question in their own way. That is how the first religions started. (eg. Thinking the sun is Apollo on a chariot of fire riding across the sky.)

bump... (a topic worth bumping)

Goldenmoon in Lake Village again.
Clarissa around Olip (west)
I'll add a few more a little later when I have to bump this again.
