Yay, MTA strike means I was able to read in on release. :-P

I think Doug's article is a very valid sense perception debate. Ephiroll's  Yeah, I don't even think an idiot could go wrong with that. And I was amused to see Jos source the real Hobbes. What next? Locke?

Get writing...

It's probably best to e-mail any submissions to us: webzine@cantr.net
(unless Sarah is regualrly checking the 'zine for new submissions? ;))

If you're the authour of any in-game literature, we'd be happy to consider including it, and if it's poetry - I think Sunni's still doing that?

I can't believe everyone out there has run out of opinions?

Well, my characters have had pretty good storytelling sessions, they should be still somewhere on my turn reports and editable for better readability.

Come on guys, start sending in some articles. :) Someone should write a tips and tricks article too, since Anthony is missing. Or if no one else wants to write that, suggest something for me to write about, because I don't have any ideas.

How to fit into/be a pariah in society? Do a particular role? RP etiquette? How to woo? (joking)

Ephiroll's article in last month's issue was very tips and tricksish, I was surprised that that wasn't the one used.

I'll have something else in by the next issue, too busy to give attention to it right now though.

I'm thinking about an article about how to keep an evil char alive

I avoided the Cantr Comic, thinking it was cartoons, and I don't do pictures, but got there in the end. JExcellent!

The essentials of this post: The Webzine has switched to a quarterly cycle, with the next issue being released on March 20th, given that people continue and increase the amount of submissions to webzine@cantr.net .

Now, the extended version:

So, perhaps you were wondering, or perhaps you weren't, but all the same, the question remains, what has happened to our oh so cherished Cantr Webzine [http://www.cantr.net/e107]?

And to not digress or take you on a long detour of explaining in parable form our decisions, wise or brilliant, genius or prodigious, allow me to be concise. Nick, Sarah and I have decided it is in the best decision for the Cantr Webzine to shift our release rate from bi-monthly to quarterly, and to have each release happen (not so coincidentally) on the equinox or solstice, marking the beginning of each new season. This year's equinox occurs on March twentieth of the year after last's.

We came to this conclusion based on several reasons. First and foremost, it gives more time for people to submit between issues, as well as building up a month's extra time of hype and anticipation (our surveys show unanimously that everyone "sits on the tip of their seats" waiting for the next issue). However, it's up to every single one of you with creative inclination, whether poetic (PM Sunni), prose based, article based, journalistic, artwork, etc, to submit to webzine@cantr.net now! Secondly, it will make sure that we're not crammed at the last moment, assuming that you all do your part in a timely fashion, preferably weeks before the next intended release date. Ideally, the best time to get started on an idea is after the most recent issue is released. Then you can sit back, relax, and ba'am, one day you see it in the Zine and you are pleasantly surprised! Thirdly, the bi-monthly decision was tentative to begin with...and really, it doesn't provide for the same thematic, overall approach as say, this seasonal cycle.

So now that I've given you keen insight on what's going on, the thing going on in your mind is "I'll just let somebody else submit...." No, this is a Cantr community project, involving everybody's work, everybody's fruition, so that we all benefit! We all get to read what you have to say, assuming once again that you put some soul into it...or do you not love Cantr? Hmmm?

Now that I've convinced you beyond a reasonable doubt to create a masterpiece of modern internet writing, you're stuck without an idea.... But there are tons, just look into your periodical, your newspaper, what do you see that past Zine articles are missing? Have you ever wondered if Cantr was made into a movie---who would you cast and why? Perhaps a critical commentary on the course of events, based on roleplay, choice of words, etc? Okay, these are just some ideas, get writing!

(Restickied, floating hasn't done much for getting more submissions ;) )

I'm just reminding everyone that the next issue is due out on the equinox, March 20, 2006. Hah, 3/20/06...3/2006. Bah, anyways....

Please send in your submissions ASAP :)

We've got a pretty good line up for your wait, so I'm pretty confident in Issue 5. However, if we have more to choose from, we can better select and choose accordingly. Although you may not see a certain article in one submission, it is very possible that it is being saved for later on. Nonetheless, the best way for us to do our job is if we don't get the material the weekend of the launch.

Am I the only one who gets a 404 page-not-found error from Cantr's server whenever I try to get at the webzine?

It's currently down because spyware was using it as entry to attach to the server, as noted by Chris Johnson in this post:

Now that it's up, we've launched Issue 5. Leave us your comments: what you liked, what you'd prefer to see more of? Suggestions? Quirks? Improvements?

By the way, we have 12 articles, so at the moment it's showing up on two pages rather than just one.

It's up? I still can't get to it.
